It just uses your truck key and then you use the tire iron to wind down the spare tire, if the hole key lock cylinder is missing then you would probably have to get it from the dealer or you might be able to get it your auto part store but your best bet would be the dealer

How do I fix the front bumper of a 2005 Chevy silverado 1500

Hi Van, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

Van, you can fix this yourself. If you have a metal bumper and the piece hanging down is plastic, here what you can do. Go to Harbor Freight and buy a bottle of Guerrilla Glue, this stuff will fix anything. CAUTION: Do not get any on you hands because that's how strong it is. You'll need to hold it in place for a few minutes OR tape it up until it dries. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website:

A guy rear-ended my 1989 Chev Silverado and knocked the rear bumper down a little bit. Can the bumper be easily adjusted back to its original position?

Well usually a factory installed bumper has no adjusting slots. Some aftermarket bumpers do so they can fit different models.
I guess you could try it if the brackets are not bent.

How do you install wire harness for trailer hitch on a 2007 silverado classic pu? Do I have to drop the spare tire inorder to access the tube that goes to the bumper , and how do I feed the wires through...

these are all snap together now. you buy the harness as a unit. it should tell you where to unplug your existing lights. this is usually on the driverside rear close to the bumper. you just unplug your existing light , plug in the new adapter then plug in the new trailor wires to the adapter. you get these at any parts house like autozone, even wal mart sells them. it is so simple it takes about 10 minutes.

2005 Chevrolet Silverado Automatic door locks

I assume you mean that the central locking system will not lock the doors but you can do so manually.

Get inside the vehicle and close all doors.

On each rear door, lock and unlock the mechanism manually a couple of times. In other words do not use the key pad.

Then leave both rear doors in the locked position (manual locking) and operate the lock button on you key pad to operate the central locking system. Wait a few seconds then hit unlock on your key pad and a few seconds later hit lock on your key pad.

If the system fails to lock your rear doors you will need to get the vehicle to an auto electrician to check out the issue and rectify it for you. There are a number of possible causes which cannot be identified without physically checking the system. So you will need to have this rectified by a professional.

Spare tire won't release.

This is the worst GM engineering i have ever seen !!!! The secondary locking mech. rust itself in the locked position on will NOT allow the tire to lower. After lowering the tire down approx. 2-4" the saftey lock is still engaged. I was able to reach above the tire and remove the bolt holding the hoist in place. {15 mm wrench}. Keep a floor jack under the tire to support it and as not to fall on your head. After removing the bolt the hoist is hooked on the frame member and must be lifted off to remove. Once you get it on the garage floor it is possible to disengage the locking mech. with a few tools and a big hammer. Good luck This should be a Recall
