A very involved job to perform so go to your local library and get a CHILTON'S MANUAL for your year vehicle. It will describe how to perform this task correctly with photos as well

there could be several problems, make sure all electrical connections are ok, most likely reason is that the timing is incorrect due to the timing belt being incorrectly installed,

I have a 1994 gmc sonoma and it wont stay running it starts for two seconds then stalls out

Check your timing belt and timing. It sounds like your timing is off. If not, have your fuel pressure checked. It may be time for a new fuel filter.

When should I replace the timing belt on a 1999 gmc sonoma

Your vehicle has a timing chain, not a belt. There is no regular maintenance interval on the chain. If it starts to clatter at idle, it may be time to replace, otherwise, do not be concerned

Try changing the fuel lines, if they are cloged from debris that could be the cause.

CHANGING STARTER ON 94 SONOMA

Hi Terrie- You can go to '94 GMC Somoma Repair' and there are numerous sites. But I think you have to remove the 4 prong wire (may have to wait for entire unit before removing red lead?) and crossmember (only 4 bolts?) and/or then loosen 1 bolt then remove other-thenstand it up and turn around before you slide out and down. Not that big-o-deal but it helps to know before you go in(you can call |GMC and ask Service Dept. Good luck and God bless
