Is this every time breaks are applied or intermittent ? I own a 98 Chrysler sebring that would die occasionally when stopping at an intersection, etc. Turned out to be the ECM.

Why when I take my foot off the gAs. Car still is idle even when I push the.breaks

that is so the the engine dosent die. it needs rpm to run. when you push the gas the torque converter kicks in and applies power to the wheels.

run the motor and just use the hand brake if it runs ok then apply the foot brake and if it dies then the brake booster is suspect as it is letting in too much air (vacuum leak)

Please check your reverse gear wiring for malfunction. It can be shorted with others that lead your car dies.

In my car RPM needle wiggle up and down when we apply break \r\non stop sign it looks that engine is going to stop & some times engine stop. Other wise it runs very good.

it is either the idle control valve or the egr valve sticking.just say that you have just come off of the interstate and had to stop suddenly,if the engine starts acting like it is going to die or just dies it is most likely the egr valve. good luck let me know if i can help in any other way

When applying brake the engine shuts down

You don't have much info listed but I would check your vacuum brake booster. If your van is equipped with a vacuum break booster it could be faulty and may have an internal vacuum leak and could cause it to die. Do the brakes feel different at all?
