Not the case. if the air bag light came on that means your computer is storing a fault code for the safety restraint system. you need to have a scanner hooked up and the codes extracted. this can be done by most auto repair shops. if it was the alternator a battery light would have lit up on the instrument cluster. hope this was helpful.
