Question about 2006 Kia Sedona

My 2006 Kia Sedona air bag light is on. Do I need to take it to the dealer to fix? My auto knowledge is limited to oil changes, topping off liquids, and wiper changes.

No, it is not necessary to take your vehicle to the dealer for service and repair of your airbag/Passive Restraint system. Although I will say that if there are any parts required to repair the system, they will have to come from the dealer because the aftermarket simply does not handle parts for the restraint systems on almost all cars - especially a Kia. Check with your favorite shop. They may be willing to tackle this task if their scanners are equipped with the correct software to diagnose your restraint system. Some aftermarket shops will not mess with an airbag system at all. For instance, If you brought it to my shop I would handle it for you, but the shop down the street from me usually refers their airbag problems to my shop.

How to fix air bag light that is on

It must be scanned by an air bag specific scanner which will codes for either a malfunctioning sensor, bad module or bad harness.

I took my wife's Kia Sedona in for service at a Kia dealer. He told me the timing belt need to be changed before 60,000 miles. Is this true?

Timing belts do need to be changed at mileage intervals set by the manufacurer. 60,000 miles sounds about right. Failure to change it may cause it to wear out and fail. Should that happen, you can cause serious damage to the engine up to needing a replacement. Look in your owners manual and it should give you the "service intervals".

Would somebody know how to reset srs (airbag) light on Kia sedona 2003?

Due to the Law only Kia dealers can reset air bag lights i have same problem it going cost $100 plus to have it turned off.

you need to do the fuel filter and oil filter too. i would do the plugs now to get it all sorted but waiting till then shouldnt be a problem

no it has nothing to do with regular oil changes as long as they are done right and frequent. is the yellow light say check engine or service engine soon? if it does take it to advance auto parts or a similiar parts store chain they usually will scan the pcm for free, but with only 24000 miles you should have warranty left on this vehicle if so take it to the dealer to fix at no cost to you.

Does the key turn?  If so, the problem may be that the interlock mechanism is jammed and not letting the pawl drop into the steering column to lock it.  You may need a dealer or other professional to fix this.  The air bag is involved.

if the air bag stays on that means you have a problem with the air bag system, and you need to have it diagnose, but if you just bought the sedona from a used car dealer they have to fix it, it is part of the safety inspection requred by law
