Remove the fuel filter you installed to see if it's plugged, you may have something in your fuel tank.

2.0 sdi running on 3 have changed fuel filter

Your not too bright--- I'm sorry

Changing a gas filter & then saying it ran a lot better
is not correct at all.

The problem comes back 220 miles later--so you change
the fuel filter again,absolutely stupid

You know that one cylinder is not contributing, would you
not go to a repair shop to have that resolved

Car won't fire

check your fuses as a start then check relays and then fuel pressure because the filter could have only 1000 miles on it and have problems with it and it could also be the coil pack died on it .

Ran out of petrol started shaking and cutting out now wont start at all

you have probably got a blockage in either the fuel filter or carb,so first check filter,if ok check carb.take fuel line of carb turn engine over see if fuel comes out if it does then filter ok if not change filter,

94 Altima quit on the road as if ran out of gas. fuel pump is working fuel filter is clean. I replaced cap and plug wires and coil. I got car to start but took several trys. Had to keep at high rpms to...

I'm not sure if I know the answer, but I will throw in my experiences. I've run across the "acts like out of gas" problem that turns out to be a fuel cap problem. The fuel cap stops up and won't let the tank vent. Just opening the cap and letting air in lets you know if that is the answer to that problem. It lets the fuel flow again and gets you home. Then change out the fuel cap. But that doesn't explain the plugs covered with carbon. The other experience was on an '88 Chevy S-10 pickup. It would do the same thing. It might run fine for months/miles then just on occasion, just quit like it ran out of gas. I changed the fuel filter, the gas cap, then the fuel pump, then cussed it. This went on for a year. I carried a can of gas with me. I could slop some into the throttle body and get it to fire up and go (sometimes) and sometimes just had to set 30 minutes to an hour. Finally had it looked at and it was the computer (back in the early auto computer days). I picked up a computer from the salvage yard and it never did it again. So if all else has failed, change the computer. I think they are almost as cheap from the parts stores as the salvage yards anymore. Hope that helps, If not, it sure brought back memories to me :)

2007 Land Cruiser stalls to idle and non responsive to gas pedal

Had exact same problem after driving 120 miles in Florida heat. After 30 minutes started but ran rough for a day and now seem fine. Thought at first fuel filter or dirty gas. Going to replace filter anyway. Is this a common problem?

Engine starves for fuel after running about 50 miles or so...

Has Neon do same, I ran fuel at low level, on hot day, ran engine until it started to act up & threw a fuel pressure gauge on it. Was at approx 5 psi. Cold next morning, 48-50 psi. Always hot day about 30-40 miles into work in morning, o.k. Sit in hot sun all day & would happen 3-4 times on way home. Sit and let cool, 20 minutes or so & go again for a while. Cool day, no problem. Change pump I would.
