Question about 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan

1 Answer

2001 dodge caravan's engine light just came on, but it has been shutting off every 5 seconds when pumping the fuel. Changing position of pump doesn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Since your check engine light is on, you need to try and get a code off your computer. It may show what the problem is. Have you checked your fuel pump fusr/relay or reset button, if equipped?

Thank you for the quick help! Not to show my gender (yep, female), where would I find the reset button? Is the fuel pump fuser relay separate from the other fuses? Are the 2 problems connected?

If you have a reset, it would probably be in the glove box or the trunk. I am not for sure if you have one. The fuse/relay is only for the fuel pump. You may have a short in the wiring harness somewhere. If it is starting for a few seconds, it is working. Have you checked to see if your fuel filter is clogged up? You may have an issue in the ignition system, plugs, wires, ect.

2001 dodge grand caravan sport 3 code 3.3 liter flex fuel random cylinder misfire along with 1 2 5 6 cylinder misfires. scan tools are unable to communicate with computer but check engine light will come...

Dirty fuel injectors. Computer will show misfire on the cylinders that are malfunctioning. If injector cleaner in tank won't clean them, pull them all out and have a professional take them apart and cleaned. Each injector has a screen in it that can get plugged up. Think about Bro, all other stuff has been renewed.

Is there a fuel shut off on 2001 ford escape? car was rolled over.

The fuel pump shut-off switch is located in the front passenger's foot well, behind the kick panel. The reset button for the fuel pump shut-off switch is accessible through an opening in the kick panel.

Use the following procedure to reset the fuel pump shut-off switch.
1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
2. Check the fuel system for leaks.
3. If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the fuel pump shut-off switch by pushing in, i.e. down on the reset button.
4. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Pause for a few seconds and return the key to the OFF position.
5. Make a further check for leaks in the fuel system.

Hope this helps.

I have spark and battery power but idont have any fuel ineed the location for the filter and the fuel pump

Fuel pump is inside the tank. Filter is on the line in between the tank and the engine. It's near the tank if memory serves me. Listen for the fuel pump when turning the key on. It should run for two seconds then shut of if the key is turned to the "run" position.
