There are many possibilities. I will try to provide a few that seem the most likely.

I am assuming the replacement engine was the same make model and year. If not the engine control system may not have a compatible configuration.

If there is not a compatibility issue with the programming, the engine control system had an emergency mode that is designed to limp the car to a repair facility in the event of an issue. Emergency mode would seem like a poorly running engine.

That aside:

Replacing an engine opens the door to vacuum leaks. Vacuum on an engine drops when accelerating so if you have a leak you could see performance that is out of character. Spraying a mist of carb cleaner on the various vacuum lines may help to locate a leak. If the engine speeds up it is sucking the carb cleaner in through a leak. If there are no leaks you will not see a change in the engine idle.

If the timing belt is worn on the replacement engine, during acceleration the car may be experiencing unexpected timing changes.

You may want to check the plugs after the poor performance. If you have plugs that are not burning clean there will be evidence on the plugs.

Also a compression test in each cylinder would help.

Hi,
Did the issues just start or only after some kind of car service?

I read where you checked the coil(s) but that's still what it sounds like.

I'd get a used coil(s) from a Wrecking/Salvage yard and try those - usually can be returned, whereas the dealer won't take 'em back.

94 camaro v6 engine and the idol runs at 2000 rpms, runs even higher if heater switch is turned on. shop cant figure out issue any ideas?

Not much of a repair shop

Use the codes & reference material to diagnose
the problem

No reason a repair shop can't do that

Leave it there until they drive it & the light comes on

They have a scan tool & have to use it on a road trip
& record the data

My 2000 dodge neon bucks when i put my foot on gas, when idoling, the motor seems to idol irratically, what can it be?

sounds to me like a bad throttle position sensor, these are generally located next to the throttle body & spares are readily available from most breakers yards, just a couple of screws & an electrical harness to undo then reverse the procedure on your vehicle at home.

scan the computer with a computer scanner just to see what it says. check your intake, I am thinking your mass air flow sensor is no good. it happened to my car where the rpm increases and decreases when the car is idle. Or it can be the IAC valve.

My 1999 Camry CE sometimes stalls at starting

it sounds like a common toyota problem........."idle air control motor", the part is very easy too change, and if your looking to save money.try a junk yard , it is a commonly used part and theyll have it much cheaper than parts stores....you can try to unplug the idle motor and see if the car runs (not better, but more even RPMS)...it the idle is even and not up and down,,,, it is for sure a bad idle motor,,, let me know, ill guide ya through the testing if needed..........marty
