on some SUVs two fuel pumps the same pump pressure
and are used because of the tank design
is very thin the the middle .... the two pump lines join together under the chassis somewhere feeding the injector rail

My 1984 300d turbo diesel will not start afriend mechnick loosened the fuel line at the injector and said their was no fuel and that the injector pump needed replaced could it be something else

check primary fuel filter for diesel. If none take hose and blow back to tank. You should hear air bubbling. then try letting pump pick up fuel. You could have a clogged screen in the tank.

Ran out of fuel. will try to start will not stay running. how to prime fuel line.

You have an electric fuel pump so priming is not needed. I would change the fuel filter. When you pull it out try to inspect it for excessive rust or debris. If there is alot of debris you may have to pull the tank and
replace the sock filter on the pickup. It is a good idea to replace the entire pickup assembly and pump
as long as you have the tank out. Good insurance you wont have to do it again in a month or two!
If it is a diesel I cant help you as I am not familiar with those fuel systems. You still have an electric pump in the tank and it feeds the injectors but as to where to troubleshoot, I dont know. A shop could help.
Try LMC parts out of Kansas.

I'm proud new owner of an old 1995 Mazda MPV 2.5 turbo diesel, when I brought it it was not going it has plenty of kick when I turn the key but it just wan't start, I had a friend of mine check to see that...

Well it should start ok but i think you may have a problem with it drawing in air along the fuel line somewhere ,normally this is caused by a deterioration of the flexible fuel lines on top of the tank and into the injector pump ,another little tric i do when i have starting problems is to fit one way non return valves in the feed and the return pipes as close to the injector pump as i can get them .A diesel engine will not toleratre any ingress of air on the intake side of the fuel pump

93 ford 7.3 diesel non turbo. idles great but when you drive and turn it starts missing and cuts off. will not restart. has new injector pump and cam sensor. new fuel filter. had very little water in...

Sounds to me like you're sucking air...does the FUEL FILTER light come on at all? Could be an "O" ring inside one of the quick connects on the fuel line selector or at the tank (if it does it on both tanks, it's the selector valve). Other than that, track your lines all the way up to the filter...if any look rusty at all, it could be sucking air from doesn't have to leak to have a hole in it. The other issue you may have is the "sock" on the end of the feed line for the sending unit in the tank could be old and brittle or clogged up. Give all that a try....

1995 k 1500 6.5 turbo will not start, new pmd mounted on fire wall. replaced fuel soleniod yesterday truck started ran fine this morning it would not start??have fuel on the bleed off line coming out after...

may have a leak in the fuel line letting air in/ diesel engines need to be air tight/ look over all possible lines and injectors may be loose had same problem/ another poosibility may be low pressure fuel pump under driver side of chasis not holding pressure and letting fuel back in to tank

Diesel engine, grey market kubota, the turqouise

yes there is a low pressure pump and a high pressure(incjector pump) if your no getting fuel to engine check for low pressure pump to be working may also have air in system which is very hard to get out and a diesel wont run untill most or all air is gone

1994 f350 turbo diesel won't start

Just with what you have said I would say its time to drain and or replace your fuel filters (there are usually 2: a primary and a secondary)

There could be a clog in the fuel filter, kinked lines somewhere (so check the lines make sure they are working) you could have an internal fuel filter leak (so it just returns to the fuel tank) or a fuel leak elsewhere.

By the way, be careful with diesel fuel lines, depending on the fuel pump (mechanical or electric) pressures range from 3,000-25,000 PSI maybe even higher!

Check the lines, and drain or replace fuel filters and let me know what you got.

Hope this helps you out.

Hello I'm an M.B. tech.. It sounds like the fuel strainer is clogged. It is a very common problem on M.B. diesel engines of that era. Diesel fuel develops algea inside the fuel tank and after a period of time it clos the strainer. The strainer is at the bottom of the fuel tank where the big fuel hose attatches to the tank. The hose unscrews frome the strainer and then the strainer unscrews from the tank. There is a filter on the strainer that can be cleaned and reinstalled. In the engine compartment there is a small primer pump that is by the fuel rack inline with the feed hose from the tank. If you turn the knob(clear or white plastic) on the pump it will retract allowing you to use it as a hand pump. If when attempting to retract hand pump it is sucked back down and will not stay retracted that means you have a restriction in the line- your fuel strainer is clogged is the most likley problem. replace both fuel filters during repair for best results. Good Luck

(TOYOTA SURF 1990 TURBO DIESEL) No diesel coming out of fuel pump

If it has glow plugs or an intake heater you will need to disable the circuit. Then you can use a small amount of ether to spray into the air cleaner.!!! If you spray too much and/or Dont disable the circuits you can damage the motor!!! When you spray the ether, if the engine starts and stalls then its not getting fuel. This could be related to the fuel pump, injection pump, the fuel system loosing its prime(fuel line leak), fuel shut-off valve or solenoid. If it doesn't start then it could be related to your timing, valves or maybe compression.
