Question about 2000 Honda Accord

2 Answers

AAA said battery was dead and starter was bad, it would only click once until the battery was completly dead. Put a new battery in and had interior lights, etc. Tried to turn it over, and only one click from starter. Also now I don't have any power to interior light, clock, dash, etc. Does it sound like the starter & main relay need to be replaced?? Or is the starter and something else?

If you had interior lights before you tried to start the vehicle it is most likely a battery cable connection problem. They must be clean, best to use a wire brush. They make an inexpensive tool just for purpose that can be purchased at any local auto parts store. If they won't stay tight or are damaged they also sell replacement battery cable ends which can easily be replaced.

Iwould check positive and negative power at battery end and at starter and engine block end
also check power at any distribution block (points) for corrosion or partially brocken connection
or loose at mounting points

Car won't start, Ford Expedition, clicking noise

if the car will jump off doesn't matter what AAA said battery is bad, either terminals are excessively corroded, or battery has a dead cell internally, remove battery and take to a reputable auto parts store or repair shop and have tested, also have load tested it is bad.

01 mustang gt cranks once

Sounds to me that your starter is gone. There is one thing you can do, try tapping ya starter and then try starting the car. If it starts then you have what is called a dead spot in ya starter. The only fix for this is a new starter. Make sure that you dont have a bad wire going to your starter also. Hope this helps.

New starter, new relay and new battery...problem is...when I shut off engine and 30 minutes later went out to start again the key turned and nothing happened...it was like the battery was completely dead....

I suspect you have a loose or corroded connection. you should be able to check voltage at relay and if good, jump across from cable coming from battery to terminal from ignition switch. or u can bypass the relay completely by using a jumper cable to go from battery pos to output cable on relay that goes to starter.

I went to start my 200 ford windstar van and it just clicks. Lights come on but wont turn ove. Is the battery bad or what? WE also have had very cold bad weather could this make the battery go bad?

It sounds like the solenoid that activates the starter is activating, but there isn't enough juice to turn the motor. You say the lights come on, but test it by putting on the interior light, then put on the headlights, if the interior light dims or goes out the battery is almost certainly dead. It might be that you left something on and the battery drained, but sadly, poor batteries will fail completely in cold weather and that's end of life. First step is a jump start from a neighbour. If that starts it, run the vehicle around for half an hour and see if that has recharged the battery. When you come to turn it off to test it, PARK ON A GOOD HILL! Then if the battery is still dead, you can use the hill to roll down and bump start the vehicle (IF ITS A MANUAL OF COURSE). If the jump start fails, If the lights remain on and bright when you test, then you have a starter fault (Probably the starter motor its self). Expect it to be the battery. What you describe is a 90% probability that it is the battery

I had a problem with my starter solenoid my truck was not starting. i have a 1996 ford ranger i bought a new one the truck started a few times and then it stopped. what is my problem.

You should have your battery tested & make sure that the terminals are cleaned & well protected wth grease once charged fully. Since you crossed/jumped the solenoid & didn't get it to start until jumping the battery (providing extra voltage), that rules out the solenoid and the ignition switch. Sometimes a battery will test full without a load but will not provide the voltage to the solenoid to actually complete the circuit, thus the clicking sound. If the battery is strong, and the starter bad, the solenoid will click solidly once, passing full voltage to the starter that will either turn, hum, or do nothing. good luck
