It could be the battery going bad, the alternator not charging the battery or corrosion on the cables not letting enough power through Most parts stores will hook up a battery tester for free. I'd start there. Make sure your cable ends are clean too.

Definitely could be but there could be something causing the battery to die. also you may not be getting good contact at the battery terminals try cleaning then

Classic symptom of a faulty battery cell or poor connection to the battery.
I suggest you start there.

Car wont start

Sounds like your battery is either flat or wont hold charge. When you start a car ALL the power goes to do that. When you get a jump you are actually using the other cars power as well as yours. Replace your battery.

Could the armature on the starter be going bad or a few are shot an thats why it will start with no problem but atleast 65% of the time it wont start then we hav to jump it.

could be the alternator too, if the battery has no charge to start your car, has nothing to do with your starter motor, could be your altenator or battery. thanks.

Batterys are rated by their cold cranking amps even if it test good its how it performs by giving a load. the voltage may be good but the amps (the strength) of the battery may be weak, check the terminals high corrosion can be lurking in the cable or terminal, you say you dont have to hook it for more than a second it sound like a bad battery terminal

My 98 odlsmobile silhouette wont crank but lights come on my dad say it the fuel pump were is it located?

You say it won't crank...(turn over...?) The motor will still turn over even if the fuel pump is bad...(located in the top of the gas tank...professional repair only:) It could be dirty battery terminals (corrodid) the lights can work, but not enough juice to engage the starter...if it won't crank and cannot be jump started with another battery the starter is probably locked...you can try tapping on the starter with a hammer...(sometimes will temporarily work and confirm starter is bad. Hope this helps:)

Can't find negative connection on remote terminal battery

Just attach the negative cable to any metal ground. This will protect the battery in the Olds and still enable you to jump start your car. Best of luck.
