Question about 2003 Lincoln LS

Engine light comes on. Had checked through my mechanic, don't know what the code was but it was thought to be a coil, have gone back two more times to my mechanic. My mechanic changed the coil and the problem seems to be pointing to the computer module. Need help. Augie Hernandez

I still have the same code on the car coming on. what else can it be?

Disconnect the battery over night to reset the engine code. If it comes back, then the problem has not been repaired. The P1320 code means that there is problem with the "Ignition Coil" or the wire to the ignition coil. Good luck!

Random multiple misfire P0300, P0302, P0304 on 2006 Kia Rio

A competent mechanic will check all probable causes associated with these DTC codes.
Code P0300: Random-Multiple misfire detected. Probable causes:
1. Vacuum leaks, damaged hoses, or improper routing
2. Fuel contamination
3. Ignition system - Ignition module, coil, spark plugs and wires
4. Fuel system
Code P0302: Cylinder 2 misfire detected. Probable causes:
1. Control unit software in need of updating
2. Faulty PCM or ECM
3. Faulty fuel injector
4. Ignition system
5. Fuel system
Code 0304: Cylinder 4 misfire detected. Probable causes:
1. Control unit software in need of updating
2. Faulty PCM or ECM
3. Faulty fuel injector
4. Ignition system
5. Fuel system

Be sure the invoice enumerates all of these probable causes as having been checked. Also, some of the replacement parts installed earlier may be faulty.

Check engine light P0302

there are such things as new coils bad from the factory.. Engine control computers have been known to go bad as well. Check the connectors from computer to the diagnostic port, make sure they are tight, make sure your engine has no vacuum leaks, and check as electrical connections of battery, coil, ignition module, etc.

Let me answer your last question first. Once the light is turned off, it will not come back on UNLESS the engine computer detects a problem with it's engine management. If the problem you are having is still alerting the computer, or if any problem is detected, the computer will turn on the check engine light again. The computer also stores trouble codes in it's memory for retrieval. As long as the light is on, the computer is telling you the problem is ongoing-it hasn't gone away.
Not too surprised you got three different ideas about what is wrong. That's kind of the nature of complex electronic controls diagnosing. The trouble codes don't tell a mechanic exactly what is needed to replace or fix it. they only direct you to where to start diagnosing and looking for the problem. Until a mechanic actually digs into your car and works with the codes, and uses his own logical skills, only then will he have a better idea of what is wrong. ( Why you need a trusted mechanic.)
If you want to post the codes here, somone might give you some helpful tips.
Finally, there is a way to turn the light off and erase the codes, but if problem persists, the light will come back on. Take off your battery negative cable for a minute, and then re-connect. Reset your clock and radio pre-sets, and you're good to go. Good luck.

if the check engine light comes ,go to autozone or advance and let them tell you what code is setting in the computer. get code number and code description. it sound to me as if a coil or coil driver circuit is bad.

I drive a 2004 olds alero 2dr v6. My trac off, anti lock, and check engine lights are all on. No one can seem to find the problem. we originally thought it was because an abs plug was essentially gone but...

trac control and anti lock problems are most likely caused by the same thing. check engine light is something else probably. system should have codes in it if lights are on, have it scanned somewhere. autozone or advance auto will scan for free.

Misfire Code/Check Engine Light. Many Repairs,Cant Clear the code

My guess on this is gonna be a cracked ignition coil. Have it tested by someone. It is very common for these coils to crack and cause a misfire.
