I got my carburetor problem fixed but now it runs for a while then starts backfiring it'll shut off let's set for a couple seconds and start right back up can anybody tell me why

That sounds like a fuel/air mixture problem.

Just to confirm .. it is a carburettor, not fuel injection?

As a general rule of thumb (with carburettors..) if it backfires through the exhaust/muffler .. the fuel mixture is too rich.

If it backfires through the carb/air filter, the mixture is too weak.

It could also be a 'sticking' float in the carb.

When an engine is cold the fuel is rich .. lots of fuel .. that's how a choke works.. However, when the engine warms up a rich mixture causes problems. The car may splutter and stall, run sluggish or cut out.

MY 89 4X4 BLAZER BACKFIRES IN THE ENGINE HOW DO I FIX THIS

The backfire could be a problem with the distributor cap or plug wires, or lack of fuel. The cap or wires could get damp and short out until the engine gets hot.
The fuel pressure could be low or not steady until the engine warms up.

1997 honda accord 5 speed

Try the fuel filter. When the car has been sitting fuel actually accumalates in the filter. As you driver the fuel is still getting through but at a diminished capacity hence the reason for the sluggish performance as it warms up. This will happen until the clog get sobad that the engine will stall. As the car sits again fuel again buid up in the filter and the car will start but because there is a gap in the fuel supply between the exit of the filter and the fuel rail a slug of fuel enters into the combustion chamber causing the backfire.

1993 toyota camry runs sluggish what should i do i think it needs a new fuel filter but not sure car runs fine other than sluggishness idles ok but very little power on take off it eventually gets up to...

Bring it to Auto zone parts store to check if any trouble codes are present they will hook up a scanner for free, the code if present will point you in the right direction if no codes are present the car most likely needs a tune up, when these vehicles get older the fuel injectors become less efficient and need professional cleaning, O2 sensors should be changed every 60 to 80,000 miles whether the check engine light is on or not.

Car stumbles, backfires until warm

You need to replace your distributor. There has been many problems with these. I had the same problem with my 1993 villager and had tried many different things and none worked. I went to a junk yard and got a used distributor and now it runs fine. I would try this before anything alse.
