Question about 2005 Pontiac Vibe

1 Answer

The driver side door makes a coupe of lloud noises everytime it's opened and closed. The dealer says it the mechanism that keeps the door from flying back in a heavy wind and would cost over $400 to repair. Any thoughts on a cheaper solution?

The dealer is right, the latch that keep door from opening to far wears and makes a poping noise but 400.00 is a bit much, try the web and see if you can find one cheaper, its not to hard to install, you would just need to remove door panel to replace, good day

Have to open the door & then remove the door panel,
to see what the issues are, with the inside or outside

Then buy the required parts at a dealer or salvage yard

2005 Toyota Sienna LE Driver Side Power Sliding Door When the door is closed and latched, the motors makes noise, and the door moves the tiniest bit, but it doesn't open. The same happens in the fully...

Try this... it fixed my problem whereby the 2005 Toyota Sienna passenger sliding door would sometimes open and sometimes not, yet I could hear the motor trying to open/close it. It cost me 20 minutes and 10 drops of oil, not $1200.

First, get the door open. It took me two weeks of constant trying, but it finally opened.

Next, remove the plastic covering of the inside door handle this way: locate the two screws on the forward edge of the sliding door near the child-safety switch: (the switch is a small lever near the door latch, on the forward edge of the door) loosen and remove the two phillips screws, one above the child-safety latch, and one below.

Remove the plastic cover to expose the gears for the door open/close mechanism.

There's a bunch of intricate plastic and metal parts in there, all coated with white grease. I used some 3-n-1 oil to lubricate everything in there thoroughly, In my case, there was one part that was a little void of grease, hence it "stuck" occasionally.

Test the system. If it's Okay, replace the plastic cover, and re-install the screws.

Now my Toyota Sienna 2005 door never fails to open or close.

Driver side front door makes a strong spring side when opening and closing. It seems to be in the door stop mechanism but that has been replaced and the noise continues.

Try spraying your door hinges and springs with WD-40 lubricant and then swing door back and forth several times until noise hopefully disappears. Might have to spray more than once. Best wishes!

Do this, With the door CLOSED !! push the 'down' button all the way and hold it for 10 secs, then up all the way and hold it for another 10 secs. Then repeat once. The window will return to normal after that.

I have a 2003 honda accord coupe

it sounds like the window switch unit in the drivers door is malfunctioning. The other possability could be the multiplex unit that all the wiring runs through. may want to have diagnostics run by a mechanic or honda dealer.

Closeing my back drivers side door

If the door itself will not stay closed then it is not the power locks but the latch that is malfunctioning, the locks only allow or disallow the latch from opening when you try to open the door.  Thoroughly lubricate the latch mechanism on the door with something like WD-40 and inspect it for damage, make sure the bolts that hold the latch within the door are tight and are aligned correctly.  After you lubricate it, close and open the door to work the lubricant in.  Also if you have child lock switches on the door, make sure the switch is fully off or on.  If all else fails then the handle/latch mechanism may need to be replaced.
