Question about 2005 Kia Spectra

1 Answer

A few problems actually. I have an 05 Kia spectra automatic 104,000 miles that surges forward. I can be stopped and all of a sudden it jumps forward, so much that I have to hit the brakes. Also, It recently has died on me twice when stopped, it sputters and idols low, then dies. Is this a fuel pump/filter issue? My wipers work but I can't get the wiper fluid to come out. What gives? Then when I get up to high speed 60+ I hear it running high & rough sounding, like its not shifting gears, but it is. I have to lower my speed to make the noise go away and run smoother. HELP!

With the washer Fluid I would check you fuse first. If the fuse is good it could be a bad connectionat the pum or you have a burnt out washer fluid pump. As for the Surging you could need a tune up if not done recently or servicing the timing belt. If the timing belt is stretched it could have jumped causeing the timeing to be out. I would check the Spark Plugs First.

2002 kia spectra surge

to find answers to the problem ,we have to know the codes that were revealed in the scanner readings
anything else is a guess and that is what costs a ton of money
remember fault codes pin point the fault areas and eliminate the guess factor.

06 kia spectra how do your adjust the shift cables on a manual trans all forward gears are fine problem is with reverse no problem untie we changed the clutch

The clutch is not clearing properly ,so wait a while for it to level itself off ,to get reverse in the meantime you stop engine ,put in reverse then start engine ,if after a while it still doesnt work and tries to jump out of gear you will have to strip the gearbox and change the dog gear

Required maintenance for the 2005 kia spectra at 57,000 miles

Not sure if it helps you but the manufacturer suggests changing your timing belt around 60,000 miles. I did this at 80k and bought a kit which included a tensioner replacement. Labor intensive but if you don't do this you run the risk of damaging your engine to the point of having to replace it altogether.(if your timing belt should fail) When your timing belt fails your pistons can damage valves which may be left open due to the camshaft not being spun by the timing belt.Hope this helps a bit.... I now have enjoyed 122k miles of trouble free motoring in my 05 spectra..

Brake lamp switch is normally the culprit of this problem, it is located on the brake pedal assembly itself.

Wont go in lock so key will come out

I have the same issue with My Kia Spectra 05. I have to put my car in N and let it roll forward or back for a few inches. Then when I try and put it in park I have to hit it forward to make sure it locks in Park. Then my key will turn all the way to pull it out. So try and hitting the shifter/ gear selector what ever you want to call it up all the way.. Some times it is not locked into park all the way. Hope this helps.

2006 Kia Spectra jerks forward

This is due to two speed sensors that are located on the Auto Box
take it to a garage who will plug a computer into a special plug under your dash board sometime these can be reset with the computer but more often than not have to be replaced you can either do this yourself if your handy with tools and don't mind struggling and getting a bit dirty or let the garage do it, the unit's don't cost a lot but garage charges do.

Good luck
