Question about 2000 Chrysler 300M
So what is the condition of your engine at this point? to you really know if it is fried or not? Did someone check toe oil pressure, or is it clattering? If it is clattering, good luck, but have it thoroughly checked out first. A new engine alone is about 3K.
The front cover is in line with your crankshaft and that's where the oil pump is at. Remove the belts, radiator and lower pulley from the engine (parts stores rent them) remove the half dozen bolts from the cover, and the two or four bolts from the oil pan and wriggle it out. It IS expensive though. expect about 200 bucks for just the pump. And while you are at it, a smart DIY'er would change the pan gasket too. Be smart.
