My grand am still overheats even after i changed the termostat and water pump plus, the fan only runs when the temp sensor is unplugged

I had the same problem with my 1999 grand am .I changed water pump, thermostat. I heard the Pontiac engines , 3.4 had overheating problems one is the intake gasket if your losing water but don't know were its going its leaking at the intake gasket and burning off or if you check the oil cap or the dip stick and theres a milky substance on them it would be your head gasket I had to change my head gasket and while I was there I changed the intake gasket too. I haven't had any problems sence I changed them hope this helps. Jack

My 1996 Pontiac Grand Am is having problems when accelerating. I have already replaced the fuel filter, the catalytic converter, the spark plugs, and air filter. What is going on with my car?

Have you checked the fuel pressure because it sounds like a weak fuel pump.Your fuel pressure should be 41-47 with key on and engine off.If its not within these specs then replace the fuel pump.Anything below 41 psi would be considered weak.

Changed starter and alternator and still wont start on 1988 grand am

There are few things that you will have to check. 1) Is the battery properly charged. 2) Are you getting spark at the spark plugs, when you crank the car to start. 3) Is there proper fuel in the car. ---------------- If the battery is not charged properly the car will not start.Check the voltage of the battery .It should be exact 12volt. If there is no spark coming when you crank the engine then its the problem of either the spark plugs or the coil pack.the spark plugs gets power to spark from coil packs. Also check the fuel pump and fuel filter. If the fuel pump and fuel filter are worn out then it will not supply the fuel properly to the engine and this results in no-start problem. If all battery, fuel pump and spark plugs checked out OK then its time to check the wiring connections between the battery to starter and battery to alternator. This will help. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

99 grand am gt overheating changed thermostat and

try priming the engine block & radiator with water though the hose's & any hose you can squeeze to pump out the air lock with the filler cap off when running, sounds too much air is is in the system & the pump won't work dry.
I had this problem a few times & I ended up practically forcing water into any hose I could re-attach quickly using a garden hose, as the heating system need's priming too !

New head gasket was installed on my pontiac grand am, now the engine want fire up.

Check that the timing is spot on, that all wires, plugs, and vacuum lines are connected. That there are no fuel leaks. after doing this. if nothing is found then try to see if the fault is fuel or spark.

Engine overheating in Pontiac Grand-am 1997,, we changed the thermostat, and it did nothing

could be the water pump or the head gasket, warped or cracked head... what size motor if its a 2.4 the water pumps on them are very hard to replace.

1996 suburban random misfire or runs rough changed the following sensors: O2 (all four) MAF IAT ECT and PCV, air filter, water pump (flowkooler), thermostat, cleaned ground connections then I added Lucas...

i would check the fuel pressure first if it is in the good ranges then your pump is good. have you checked your spark plugs and wires? if not i would, if bad replace. otherwise i would have the ignition coils checked to find out if they are working correctly. that is all i can think of. good luck
