Question about Toyota Camry

1 Answer

I have a 1997 toyota camry with less than 70,000 miles. all required and suggested maintainance are up to date. Lately, i noticed the brake indicator on the dash board lit up. The hand brake is down (off). The car runs smooth like before and no hesitance on going forward. Nothing to me that would indicate that the hand brakes was on. All brakes lights were functioning. I also learned the location of brake fluid, that's full. What would cause the brake indicator to turn on and off while driving?

While trying to change my pads i noticed my rotors seem loose, also i cant get the brakes to stop grinding, squealing after reassembly.

Shane, rotors may seem loose until wheel is on car and torqued to specification, I recommend you take car in for your brakes to be inspected, estimate and repaired at a good shop. Arrange your appointment time so you can be there and watch how it is done and learn from it. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

My 98 Toyota Camry V6 LE has 120,000 miles on it and runs great. However, lately I have noticed it sputters ever so slightly on the highway. right about 60 MPH. If coasting or accelerating it is fine. ...

Being that you have a 1998 Toyota Camry, these cars are fuel injected and shouldnt need the gas pedal depressed to feed fuel to your engine. It's possible you may have a dirty fuel pump or dirty injectors. Here are some possible steps (cheapest in $) so follow these in order to spend less money.
- Run some Lucas Fuel System Cleaner (green cap bottle), do two treatments of that in your gas tank and see if that makes a difference. Dirty lines and clogged injectors are caused by cheap gas and or constantly running on Empty thus allowing fuel pump to pick up sediment from bottom of gas tank.
- Sputtering could also be worn spark plugs (too big of a gap) and or faulty spark plug wires or both.
-Timing chain issues usually occur if you hear a constant vibration near the top of the engine.
-Transmission issues would be having trouble putting the car in certain gears, or the transmission stick does not sit in gear properly (slippage).

Just some suggestions that may help with your problem.

My oil light will flicker on for a second when I apply the brakes in my 2007 Toyota Camry with 70,000 miles, that also had an oil change 2000 miles ago. Any thoughts on why?

Your oil sensor may be faulty, or your oil may be low, or your may have a leak. By taking your foot off the gas, you're reducing the oil pressure

When the engine is not cold, it idles at below 400 rpm and stops

have the throttle body cleaned it is restricting air flow from having to much carbon in the intake yes and also it is time for plugs and wires.

I just got my front brakes replaced on my 2000 Toyota Camry. It has less than 80,000 miles on it. The mechanic said that there had been only 1/32nd" left on the front, but the back brakes were fine....

everything the mechanic suggested is right on target. Over time you do not realize that the ride of your car has deteriorated until you put on the new struts and the alignment is a must after the replacement of those struts. As far as the back brakes being good versus the front being worn out, the front brakes take a lot more abuse than the rears do to eight transfer upon braking.
