Question about 1995 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

Lost the keys to 1995 Buick LeSabre. I had the ignition switch replaced, but the car will not start. The original key had the chip in it. How can I get the car to start?

Code p0629 pass key frequency invalid

I don't have info on that code, so it may be specific to Buick. The passkey uses a chip which the computer in the car "reads" to make sure the owner is trying to start the car.
The ignition lock has a sensor that picks up the chip in the key. I would try a spare key first to make sure the problem is not the key. It could also be a problem with the lock cylinder or the module that stores the code.

I have a 1993 buick lesabre. The security light is flashing and will not start. I checked the fuse it was ok. I tried our other key and still wouldn't start.

there may be a broken wire from the ignition swith going down the steering column, theres two sensors at the begining opening of switch, sometimes they get stuck and dont pop back out, in turn it doesnt touch the chip on the key and cant read it,take a look with a light use a small pic and push lightly on them and see if the y push in and pop out, if they do then replace ignition swith, theres a way to bypass, use an omh meter and measure resistance of key chip, then buy a resistor with the same value, and connenet to wires from switch under the dash, cut wires and put conecting the two going to switch with resistor connecting them together, heres a diagram,193b32f.jpg

Ignition and key problems...

You have to use the lock cylinder and key from the original column, the keys have a small piece or resistive wire that the sensor in the column reads and if the wrong resistance value is read then the starter or fuel pump are locked out, your car came with a factory security system so don't know why another was added, but the reason above is the problem.

1999 Buick regal Security light on. Won't start.

I had the same problem with my 95 Lesabre. The owners manual says to take the key out, and wait 3 minutes(until the light goes off). It should fire right up.

1998 buick lesabre wont start

Do you have a Chip in the Key? if so that Could be the Problem,Ya see the chip is a resistor and if it looses its ELECTRONIC VALUE in its Case Resistance it wont start to test this Turn the Key in the ON posission then do the Screwdriver thing If it Starts Key is Good and Most Likely the Ignition (SWITCH) is Bad <<ELECTRICAL Side NOY LOCKEST SIDE For More Info Recontact Me

1995 Buick LeSabre won't start when security light comes on.

When my 1994 LaSabre had a problem recognizing the chip in the key (due to the contacts in the lock not working), I managed to bypass the system by locating the two wires (clear tube with two smaller wires in it exiting the steerin column, unlike any other wiring), cutting the cable, and soldering a resistor across the two wires that go to the hidden module thet in turn controlls the starter and sends a signal to the engine computer. Use a resistor of the same resistamce value as in one of the keys for the car (measure resistors with a digital meter). There are a dozen or so values used. You loose the extra protection of the chip, but the fix is low cost.
