Question about 1990 Cadillac Deville
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You need air, fuel, and fire to start a vehicle. There are many things in a motor that can cause this. As long as it is cranking, it should rule out the charging system. If it is not, it may be the battery, loose connection, starter. If it is, as I presume, start by checking your fuel pressure. You could have a weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, damaged gas lines, or a leaking injector. Refer to your manual for correct fuel pressure. If the fuel checks out, you may need to start looking at the ignition system. If you haven't had a tune up lately, I advise you to do so. It could be spark plugs, coils, wires, distributor, dist.cap, rotor, coil pack. If you have a check engine light on, you need to have the computer scanned for codes. This is your best bet because it can lead you to the right part. Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts does this test for free and they can tell you what the code is. Because it starts sometimes, it makes it harder to find the problem because the part is weak, not bad. If you can't get a code, you just need to start checking everything you can. Check for loose wires and vacuum leaks. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for using FixYa and best wishes.
