If your reffering to the vehicles screen then i would first check the coolant level. It might just be low and it is letting you know. If that is not the case then check what the vehicles temp is running at when your driving. It may be telling you the vehicle is over heating.

I have a Jeep Cherokee. It displayed that I need to check the TMP system. What does this mean.

Was the message not "check TPM system? That is the tire pressure monitoring system. Is one tire pressure indication blank? Most probably a tire ptessure srnsor failure, the battery is most probably depleted.

My car don't start. Engine temp data error comes on on the dashboard

So why do you disconnect the battery? All that does is clear the computer information that is NEEDED to diagnose and repair the problem.
What you need to do is to check the circuits to your engine coolant temperature sensor or the cooling system problem. Continuing to do it the way you have described will cause some pretty HIGH DOLLAR parts to be completely destroyed,

What does code t0440 mean on a 2003 malibu

Do you mean "P0440"?

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0440 has a generic description of "Evaporative Emissions System Large Leak".

The MOST COMMON cause of this code is refueling the vehicle with the engine running or not getting the fuel cap on correctly after refueling.

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) checks for leaks in the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) system using the data provided by the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor. It will check the FTP sensor data, then close the EVAP Vent Valve and open the Canister Purge Valve to apply vacuum to the EVAP system. After a period of time, the PCM will again check the FTP data to see if the fuel tank pressure has dropped within a specified amount. If there is very little or no change in the FTP data, DTC P0440 sets.

Other possible causes for this code are:

> Defective FTP sensor (VERY RARE)
> EVAP Vent valve stuck open
> Canister Purge Valve stuck closed
> Large leaks or cracks in any of the EVAP system hoses and/or lines and/or components, including the fuel tank and the fuel filler neck and the EVAP canister

Please note that this code indicates a MECHANICAL failure of the system. This is NOT a circuit fault that would involve broken/shorted wires, blown fuses, etc..

It's a Tyres Monitoring Pressure (TMP) system ECU (Electronic Control Unit) temporary faulty. Run for few miles above 30 mph, and all the temporary faults of Tyres Monitoring Pressure (TMP) system ECU will dissappear themselves. Also you can access & erase the TMP system ECU for all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) memored, if you will connect a VW / Audi diagnostic equipment to the data link connector of the car.

First i would check to make sure cooling fan is coming on if not check fuses.if good then check to see if its getting power and a good ground to fan. if it is the fan motor is bad. if not you my have a radiator coolant temp sensor not working right (not sending power to fan) but that sensor has to get power from The cooling fan relay... If the fan comes on. You need to have the cooling system pressure checked for leaks any air in system will cause the gauge not read right .It reads coolant not air if that ok there is another temp sensor just for the gauge it my be faultly it that ok a bad ground or faulty gauge. And make sure thermostat is good hope this helps
