Verify that the rotor is turning? if so turn your crank by hand while you can see rotor button does the rotor turn as soon as engine crank turns? if not timing chain has too much slack in it,replace timing chain!! if it does move as soon as crank is turned then check to plugs make sure rotor button tip is not loose and look for burn holes in it

On a vehicle of that year if you have spark and you have fuel then you have a running engine. The only thing that could make it not run is if the timing is out 180 degrees. Did you verify that the number 1 cylinder is at top dead center? I need more details if that is not the issue. Like are the jets letting fuel into the intake? What was done to the engine already?

I have a Chevy 2500 pick up truck. My son thought he'd replace the spark plugs. He removed the distributor cap, didn't understand it and now the truck won't start. He did not replace any spark...

firing order for 5.7 v8 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 mostly all of the chevy v8s are the same firing order. the rotor button in distributer turns clockwise, the cylinder numbers are 1-3-5-7 on drivers side, 2-4-6-8 is on passengers side. To get started get your distrutor cap[new one] look on the top you will see a #1that's where you begin you must know if if rotates clockwise or counter clockwise start in that direction then follow the firing order and cylinder line up. good-day!! if cap is not marked, just pull out #1 plug, put a straw or similar in plug hole on top of piston. turn engine over by crank in front of vehicle with a wrench, when the piston comes to the very top just before it starts going down. this is tdc. and rotor button should be pointing to #1 wire on dist, cap. follow from there. good-day !!

I need the firing order diagram 4 a 1975 ford granada ghia i believe it has the 302 cid v8.Also should'nt the dist.rotor point 2 the number 1 tower at tdc on the compression stroke?

Yes it should but the crankshaft turns 2 times for every one turn of the camshaft. Turn the engine over 1 more complete turn and the rotor should line up.
On a 302, for 1975, the firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. Pistons 1-2-3-4 are on the passenger side front to back and 5-6-7-8 are on the driver's side front to back. #1 piston should be the first plug on the driver's side of the rear clip on the distributor cap, or about 1 o'clock. The distributor turns counter clockwise. Hope this helps.

Need to know the firing order for a 1982, 1.9 chevrolet S-10 four cylinder, and where is #1 on the distributor cap?

the firing order # is 1342, and the # 1 firing postion on the distributor cap should be at the 5 o clock position on the cap. this is according to the manual that i have. because the rotor turns counter clockwise. if you have any doubt, remove the #1 spark plug , and distributor cap , and bring the # 1 piston up on top dead center of the compression stroke, and the tip of the rotor will be facing the # 1 firing position.

I need to find out the right order to put my spark plugs the firing order its a v 8 4.1 litter my brother got them all mixed up.

The firing order for a 4.1 V-8 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Odd number pistons are on the driver's side, front to back and even numbers on the passenger's side front to back. The distributor turns counter-clockwise (backwards) and #1 piston is at 1 o'clock (close to the firewall). Hope this helps.

I replaced my spark plug wires on my 1996 chevy truck. may have crossed one, need a diagram from the spark plugs to the distributer cap.

Since you didn't state whether it is a V6 or V8, I'll give you both.

V6 -4.3Liter
Firing Order is 1-6-5-4-3-2
Distributor rotor turns Clockwise
Number 1 spark plug tower on distributor cap, faces the front of the engine.

->Drivers side, spark plug order in engine, starting from the Front going back:
1-3-5
->Passenger side, spark plug order in engine,
starting from the Front going back:
2-4-6

If it's Electronic, the distributor cap has a Left side, (Drivers side), and a Right side, (Passenger side)
Starting from the Front, going back on the Left side,
3-1-5
Starting from the Front going back on the Right side,
2-4-6

V8-5.0, 5.7, and 7.4Liter
Firing Order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
Distributor rotor turns Clockwise
Number 1 spark plug tower on distributor cap,
faces Front, towards the Drivers side.

Electronic distributor cap has two sides. Drivers, (Left), side and Passenger, (Right), side.
Starting from Front going back on Drivers side,
1-7-3-5
Starting from Front going back on Passenger side,
8-2-4-6

Spark plug order in engine, starting from Front going back, Drivers side:
1-3-5-7
Spark plug order in engine, starting from Front going back, Passenger side:
2-4-6-8
