You need to run a code check on the vehicle but that is a sign of the egr going bad.

Not that i know of but im sure someone has devised a trick out there. The only real way to actually know the egr is bad it for the computer to tell you it is. You can take the vehicle to someplace like autozone and they ussually have a scanner and will pull the codes for free.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Poor idling when cold that gets better when the engine warms up, or at higher RPMs are symptoms of vacuum leaks. Check all hoses and connectors. If it's a manifold gasket, you will want to use a smoke machine (check when the engine is cold).

I have a F250, 5.0 1985 FUEL INJECTED Engine that will not start cold, why?

Bad coolant temp sensor. This part asks as choke on FI engines. Some older FI engines also have a cold start injector. Check to see if yours does.
