Check you dont have a broken lead removing them one at a time with engine running will show you which cyl is not firing check plug wasnt cracked when being fitted change lead double check firing order if the engine didnt miss before the plugs were changed then this course of action should fix the miss its easy to cracl spark plugs when fitting if the plug socket does not have rubber insert carbon leads only need to be pulled to hard or bent to far to damage the carbon fibers that run through them check that you dont have two leads crossed this is a common mistake with v8sand is easy to do

Testimonial: "The miss comes only when the engine gets hot"

  • guyhddn91 Apr 22, 2011

if you only get the miss when engine is hot
it could be a plug lead breaking down or its not
uncommon for the coil or coil pack to break down
when hot if you only have one coil replace it
if u have individual coil packs for each cylinder
you can remove them one at a time with engie
running to determin which one is faulty and replace it

2001 tahoe 5.3L have a slight miss at idle no check engine if changed wires an plugs but still missing

Check Compression on that cylinder. Also consider coil pack on that cylinder. You can swap coil packs on most cars so you can try that to see if miss moves.

remove the plug from the #1 cylinder, and install it into the #2 cylinder , and put plug from # 2 clyinder in to #1 plug hole, connect plug wires, and start up vehichle, and if computer shows misfire on # 2 cylinder , then you have a bad plug, possibly porcelin insulator could have a hair line crack in it, hope that this information has helped you.

01 kia rio has bad rings in the # 3 cyl. i've been just changing the plugs and adding oil as needed but now the same old process happens missing, check engine light, changed all the plugs and wires still...

Rent a scanner, they present more information better that blinking lights. If the engine has a lot of miles, the timing belt is probably ready to fail. The better answer to your problems might be finding a good used engine in a wrecking yard rather than a rebuild of your engine to correct the oil use/plug fouling problem.

Engine misses, new plugs in it today, still misses

sounds like you could have a leaky valve..

i unpluge 1 plug wire at a time and see if 1 doesnt seem to change the sound of the engin to much. then you will know what plug is doing it and check those valves "exhaust/intake"..

or even check to see if that plug may have oil on it for that could be valve seals or oil ring on piston that would cause a miss..

Engine missing on occasion when accelerating.

missing on occasion? you changed the plugs? was it missing before are after you changed the plugs? Missing is usually caused by a spark failing to jump across the spark plug gap.i would first look for a broken spark plug insulator. Secondly, bad spark plug wires ( if you re-used them the connector might have pulled off the wire internally) also look at the coil and distributor for cracks or other problems if the plugs and wires check out ok .
