I am not at home and have limited tools,if you could give me details of what could be causing the problem I may be able to work from there, does this model have some sort of fuel or electrical cut off that requires enabling, I tried spraying "Easy start" in the air manifold simply to establish if there was any spark, if there was I'm sure it would have fired momentarily but there was nothing, where could I find a point to open the fuel line to check supply pressure etc ? Thanks Bazza

I need to know where the fuse boxes are : 2001 525i, BMW. E39.
Fuses Number 1 to 45 are in the roof of the glove box.
Fuses 46 to 62 are supposed to be in the right side in the trunk above the battery but they are NOT there only 3 fuses and 2 relays, there is a list of fuses 45 to 62 stuck on the back of the pull down side panel but there are no other fuses in this area ..... please advise me where these fuses are. thanx Bazza 41

    Hi, Problem solved !
I still have not found fuses 46 to 62.
I have removed, cleaned & replaced the "Knock sensor".
    Engine started and running OK.
Thanxs for assistance but I explained my limited resources and needed answers to specific questions which were not addressed.
    Regards Bazza 41

Next things to check are spark and fuel pressure. Making sure you have both of those are the firs steps.
Thanks,

there is a tool to check fuel pressure usually you can rent them for free at autozone with a small deposit. As for spark, there is also a tool you can get to test the spark as well that is relatively cheap.
    Thanks,

Should be on the right side, raise the carpet, and remove the panel.
    Thank you,

I gave as detailed responses as should be needed. You can also look in your owners manual for the same info. I did not receive any response back to my last comment so I assumed you found it. Glad you got it working.
    Thanks again,

While driving down road my kia 2002 spectra just died and now when I turn key it just clicks and all the dash lights and radio go out

was there any warning lights before dieing ?it would seem to be an alternator/charging problem,is the serpent belt ok? try jump starting or changing the battery, if she starts then check for ignition charge light staying on, if she still wont start/turnover could be a starter motor problem or a jammed alternator, if she wont turn over on a fully charged battery or jump leads remove the serpent belt that drives the alternator/AC /power steering etc try starting again if ok switch off and try turning each pulley driven by the serpent belt by hand the only one you should not be able to turn is the main crankshaft pulley, if any of the others are hard or impossible to turn you have found the problem

Will not start

ensure that the battery terminals and posts are shiny clean. Ensure that the battery is fully charged after you have had a load test done on it. IF everything is ok remove the starter and have it bench tested.

Dear,

Look for weather the battery is fully charged or not some times due to less charging the starter does not works properly.

Also look for the glow plugs weather all of them are getting heated at a time or not.

thanx

1996 bmw 328i wont start

Possibly. 1st have the battery checked though. Pull it out and have a parts store check it (free service). All the lights may work, but the battery may not have enough 'juice' to crank the engine over. Is there a click, or no sound at all? Check terminals and connection at starter also to make sure all are clean and tight.
If battery checks out as fully charged and ok, then pull the starter and have it checked out. Good luck.

Start on the engine

either your inlet valves are not fully closing (treat fuel system with redex for a few weeks to remove any carbon build up and allow valves to fully close) or ignition timing is out and needs resetting with a strobe
