You should have the clutch adjustment checked it may be overadjusted but i think you will need to replace the clutch it will cause damage to the fly wheel if it has been slipping for a long time the flywheel should be machined when you replace the clutch

A weak pressure plate or worn out clutch disc can cause slippage when power is applied. Replacing the clutch is a big job which requires removal of the transmission. I would suggest taking it to a reputable repair shop to have the work done.

Is it normal for the revs to stay up when changing gear in a 2002 4x4 3.0L turbo diesel navara?

do they revs drop off when taking pressure off accelerator pedal when out of gear? if only staying high during gear change it would suggest a worn clutch friction/pressure plate so the engine isn't slowing down when clutch is depressed .I'd also have the OBD codes read to see if there is a sensor/switch at fault , but sounds like the clutch to me

Yes it is the clutch slipping, in high gear the greatest load is put on the clutch so that is when they slip the most.

What are the symtoms of a bad clutch switch

If the engine revs up more than normal and your not gaining speed then the clutch is slipping. If you shift down to pass and then try to accelerate and the engine revs up but you don't gain speed, the clutch is slipping. If with the park brake on you can let the clutch out without stalling you need a clutch. If it makes a tinny sound when the clutch is pushed, you need a trow-out bearing

it could be possible that your clutch is slipping at high revs, depending on its age[wear and tear].does it also slip under normal driving conditions?if so then it needs replacing.to change the discs to ventilated, the brake pads are different and the brake callipers need to be changed..cheers

Over-revving in 5th at 75mph all of a sudden

If the car rev'd up but did not speed up at the same time the clutch is starting to slip. Check the adjustment and recheck driving. When the clutch starts to wear this is how they act, only most people ignore whats happening and keep driving till adjustments won't fix it and the clutch has to be replaced. Have adjustment checked and keep an eye on it and hopefullty you won't need a clutch yet.

2000 saab 93. Slow acceleration out of gears, especially first.

Car picks up speed if you accelerate slowly, but the engine races, with minimal speed increase of the vehicle, when the throttle pedal is pushed harder? I'm not aware of the typical layout of the Saab, so while these things below are what I would suggest you look at... Not all will apply. Note that if the clutch plate is worn or otherwise slipping, the more you race the engine, the sooner will you burn off any remaining clutch life. Take things easy 'till you have a solution..... On any vehicle, this is a classic sign of a worn, damaged, or out of adjustment clutch. Or Possibly oil contamination from a leaking crankshaft rear oil seal. It causes a glaze on the linings of the driven plate and loses friction. Or The clutch pedal is not returning to it's normal rest position when released. Check for objects trapped between the pedal and the vehicle surfaces. Or The cable (if used)may be binding, thus the clutch doesn't fully return. It may be out of adjustment. Check for adjusting points at the cable ends. If no slack exists in the cable, it appears as though the clutch is worn. The clutch may be self adjusting. It's possible for self adjusters to seize. Or The hydraulic system (if used),has sticking cylinders. You may be able to clean and reuse the cylinders....
