Clean throttle body air

The accelerator cables? Spray them up good on the outside with a penetrant spray, like WD-40.
The problem with sticking throttle body parts (like the butterfly valve, and the idle control valve) is not carbon deposits, it is coking deposits. This is from air impurities. Remember that a hose from the PCV system is routed back into the air intake-this carries a lot of impurities. Over time, coking deposits will build up. Air passages controlled by the idle control valve will get these coking deposits. I'm not sure how much the internal carbon cleaning helped the throttle body.
I believe I would get a second opinion- I have never heard of an idle valve that can't be taken off and cleaned.

2001 Ford Taurus idels low and stalls sometimes when stopping at a stop light

sometime this will happen if the throttle blade idle hole gets plugged with carbon. if you take off the air inlet tube off the throttle body and look into the throttle body you will see a round looking flat disk , you will see a small hole in it .about the size of a stir stick straw .this hole gets plugged with carbon and will effect the calibrated to let the right amount of air in the engine @ idle.if you clean this there is a good chance this will fix your problem . be careful what cleaner you use as some of the throttle blades are coated with a Teflon coating(local parts store will have the proper throttle body cleaner for these ford throttle bodies )

Lost power and smokes like the dickens

If it's white smoke, the head gasket is blown
If it's blue smoke, major problem, valve and piston and ring job.

While stopped at lights etc.. my car surges and

The idle adjustment screw in throttle body has carbon build up on its tip.need to remove screw clean depoisits off tip, carbon in idlescrew port(with carb clean) re-install idle screw, seat it,then back out 1 1/2 turns.start car and hold at higher idle to blow out carb. clean &deposits out of throttle body then recheck for surging once warmed up.

Car idles too high. Had a replacement idle control valve 3 months ago which resolved the same problem, but it has restarted again now.

check TPS (throttle position switch)connections and TPS switch are renound for issues may need adjusting base idle, also check pcv hole in throttle body base manifold area clean out throttle body also if carboned up
is also possible this idle air control valve (IAC) is sticky due to carbon build up clean with carby cleaner or some sort of solvent

VW Polo Classic 1997 IDLE Problems

Hello, VW polos 1.0, 1.4. 1.6, suffer from carbon bulid up in the throttle bodys causing bad idling, esp the Bosch Mono-Motronic (Throttle Body Injection systems), a good clean with carb cleaner should repair the problem, also engine temp sensor replacement and idle speed control valve replacement can help idle problems.
