Question about Volkswagen Passat
First, check your engine oil level , while on level ground, add if it's low. (The oil viscosity should be labeled on the oil filler cap) Blue smoke is a sign of burning oil, not a good sign. White smoke is a sign of coolant mixing with your engine oil, a worse sign.
Your computer is telling you to check your oil, so do it, or get it done.
If your oil is low, top it off and keep checking it regularly to see if your engine is consuming it. If it is, I would recommend getting it looked at for either a leak, or low compression. (Worn out piston rings will cause oil consumption and poor performance.)

Look for another car, dont drive car until you pour the right amount of oil in oil crank case.look under hood for oil dip stick next to air filter housing, look for dip stick on top right side of engine cover next to intake manifold.when you find the oil dip stick add oil in engine until you reach full mark on oil dip stick, your engine losing oil, check for oil leaks at oil filter seal or oil pressure sending unit.when you crank car look under car.if you see oil dripping out real fast around where oil filter housing and oil sending unit, dont drive car.have place you bought car know about oil leak, and low oil light on. if you try to drive car back to garage , chance motor could lose too much oil lock up on you and you will be stuck with car.if you bought a car should be having no kind of problems with engine.
