My car was fine. Suddenly my lights don't work, my windshield wipers- blinker and ac/heater fan won't cut on. I noticed a problem the day before with the lights. Now it's more! My husband took the positive charge off of the battery to see if the car would die. It didn't. I did notice static in my radio as I tried to work other components. Could it still be the alternator or something g else?

If the engine runs without having the battery connected, the alternator is probably OK. I would check for a blown fuse (or fuses) and if none are bad, the relays that do most of the switching of different accessories would be the next place to look.
Be advised, if the battery is disconnected with the engine off, you may lose access to your stereo and possibly the ability to lock and unlock your car with a remote. This is a common problem and part of the passive security in most cars that is supposed to prevent theft since the codes can disappear with power removed. You can prevent this from happening with a simple and low-cost device that uses a 9V battery and plugs into the cigarette lighter or 'power jack.' The battery keeps those items 'alive' that are protected as described.
I recommend to anyone owning any vehicle to spend ~$25 US on a Haynes service manual (if one exists) which covers mechanical and electrical service. We have one for each of three vehicles. For yours:

Left side lights Dim and windshield wipers operate

Hello ilandskater2,
It sounds like you may have caused a plug for the lights to come undone or you lost the ground to one side of the car. Some newer vehicles use a reverse type ground system with small computer controlled relays in the system. It sounds like you are getting a reverse feed on the power system under the hood. look at all the plugs and check to see if they are completely pluugged in and check the fuse block to see if any are blown causing the feed back. Check all the grounding points under the hood also. Hope this helps. Regards, rcampsr
