No less than 25 psi hot, but that's weak, a good pressure is around 60 psi cold and 40 psi hot, depending on engine RPM

Loss oil preasure in my 351 L

Sure sounds like stopped up return passageways, common in old engines. Or a failing oil pump, not common. Are you sure about this low mileage? Pull a valve cover and check for sludge.

Oil pressure drops to zero at idle on 2002 GMC Envoy after engine warms up

You could have three possable problems that I can think of. 1) Your oil viscosity is too low and you need to change it to a higher level. A 5w/30 or 10w/30 oil may thin out too much when it warms up to normal temp and shows low on your gauge. 2) The preasure relief valve is partially open due to a small piece of debris caught under the seat. Unscrew the oil filter and look at the small disk that is near the threded part on the filter base. Theres a spring behind it to keep it closed so all the oil goes into the engine and not bypass back into the oil pan. Push up on it slightly with a small tip screw driver and see that it fully seats in the hole, put a new filter on, and try it. 3) If these two things don't improve the condition, get a socket for taking the oil preasure sender off and get a oil preasure gauge to test the actual oil preasure the engine is producing. You may have a weak pump in the engine. If the preasure is within good specs, I'd change the sender unit with a new one.
Let me know what happened-

Oil pressure light comes on.message says stop engine now.what are possible solutions.engine has 151,000 miles.i change oil every 3000 to 4000 miles

HI.There are only two possible issue here that will cause this to occur. The first issue will be a failing, or damaged oil pressure switch(sending unit). The sending unit is responsible for transmitting the correct information to the instrument that displays the pressure readings. If there is a wiring issue, or the sending unit has failed, this will cause the oil light to illuminate. In this case, the sending unit must be replaced. Ok, the next issue will be a failed oil pump. This will be the most common issue, in this case, due to the actual mileage on this particular vehicle. A oil pump can fail mechanically(gear failure). This device is not repairable, and must be replaced. The easiest way to isolate the issue, will be to preform a pressure test on the engine. There is a special tool, used by your mechanic, that will allow you, or him, to extract the true pressure readings for the engine, during idle. If the pressure test confirms that the oil pressure is low, or weak, this will lead to a failed oil pump. Now, if the pressure test indicates that the engine is running at optimal pressure range, this will indicate that the oil pressure switch(sending unit), is faulty. It must be replaced.

Low oil pressure light is on on 2000 lexus rx300. Doesn't need oil or an oil change. Not leaking oil.

try replacing the oil preasure switch, if that doesnt solve your problem then have your oil preasure tested, if it really doesnt have oil preasure it will cause internal engine damage so start with the switch and then go from there, hope this is helpful.

My oil gauge, which usually reads at 40, has suddenly skyrocketed to 80, why? My check engine light came on 2 days ago, and now this

Could be a blocked oil pipe or filter. Something is causing an obstruction which is boosting the oil preasure but in turn starving the engine of oil. Start with changing the oil filter if you have changed it recently check you got the correct one. Also check the oil and coolant levels and colour of the oil if coolant is getting into the oil system it will make the oil heavier and this will increase oil preasure but the oil will be gray in colour not black

I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0L engine. The oil pressure gauge usually stays around 40 on the highway but when I come to a stop it drops down to 10. Is this normal or is my oil pump getting ready...

No this is normal. As an engine wears then oil preasure will be less this is not due to a weak oil pump but wear in crank shaft bearing's. When an engine is new and bearings are tight then oil preasure wont fall a lot from reved up to idle as the engine wear's oil escapes quicker from the crank shaft bearings. Reved up oil preasure increases idle it drops off. If the oil light stays out then their is enough preasure to lubricate the engine. In fact in an older engine high oil preasure is a worse complaint as this means the oil system is clogging. All is ok with your pump. If the oil preasure is moving up and down at constant rev.'s then the oil pump is faulty. Hope this put's your mind to rest.

My oil preasure gage will show normal when the truck is sitting idle. as soon as i give it gas there is no preasure at all. . It has also been trying to over heat

Doesn't sound good. Your oil pump may be going out that would explain over heating and eventually disaster will strike. You need to install a external gauge and verify that at least you gauge in your vehicle is reading correctly or have someone do it for you. Shouldn't cost much over $60 for private repairmen to do this that would at least tell you that it isn't a gauge issue but I would bet money that your oil pump is weak.

Oil light flashing occasionally

It could be a faulty oil sending unit, but it would be advisable to have the oil preasure checked with a mechanical guage to determine if it is a sending unit or low oil preasure. Oil preasure low enough to allow the light to come on is low enough to possibly cause major engine damage.

Oil light,

There is the possibility the oil sending unit might be bad, but it is more likely that the oil preasure drops to a dangerous level when the engine is warm and the oil thins out. It would be advisable to take it to a shop and have them check the oil preasure with a remote preasure guage just to be sure before it could cause major and very expensive damage.

Oil light comes on and beeps

Changing oil can't hurt. When was the last time you had it changes? How many miles on that engine?Changing approximately ever 3,000 miles is common practice. The engine oil light and the automatic transmission are two seperate problems.     Engine oil light come on because the sensor reads a low oil preasure. If the engine is not worn then the light can be caused by the sensor getting cloged up (from dirty oil ) and not reading the preasure correctly.
