Question about 1983 Buick Regal

1 Answer

I replaced a neighbors starter and solenoid switch for a 1979 Buick Regal 8 cyl, 4.9 liter engine......I turned the key, and the car started.......I drove the car back to my neighbor.....2 days later my neighbor told me it will not start....I went to look at head lights, so I thought that his battery went dead....I used jumper cables, and the headlights came on, BUT also did the turned over and started without the key???? did I reverse the connection on the (2) solenoid is marked (B) I believe and one is marked (S) I believe....which I thought meant Battery or Switch????...does anyone know which one of these terminals is the correct one for the 2 wires on the goes to positive side of battery, and one goes to negative or ground side....I believed I connected the negative wire to the terminal marked (S) which I thought I had disconnected the original starter from.....thanks for help....I proberly reversed them, but would like to be sure.....John P.

Buick regal 2000 car wont do nothing. . when i turn key i just shows the sec life

sec life ?????? SECURITY LIGHT ? anti-theft system problem . The Pass-Key II® Theft Deterrent system prevents vehicle theft by disabling the starter motor and fuel system. If the Body Control Module (BCM) dose not identify the use of the correct ignition key to start the vehicle, the (BCM) will communicate a message to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) which will disable the crank relay and fuel delivery to the engine.
When the (BCM) identifies the use of the correct ignition key (resistor pellet) to start the vehicle, the (BCM) will send a fuel enable and starter enable message to the (PCM) which will allow the vehicle to start.

I have a 2002, Buick regal and it was in a accident now when I turn the key on the engine won't turn over where is the reset button

No such thing. If engine is not turning over, obviously, the power is not being transmitted to the solenoid/starter motor. check your connections at battery and starter motor.

My 2002 buick regal cranks when it wants to i can try to crank it and the car will not make a sound but after several attemps the car will sometimes start

could be the starter solenoid is going south or also an ignition could be a culprit. try to duplicate the condition and gently tap the side of the starter with a hammer while someone else holds the key over in the start position. be careful while doing this. if the starter turns when you tap it, the brushes inside the starter itself are gone and the starter needs replacing.

When replacing battery on 93 buick, starter engages

were you trying to start it before you removed the other battery?
if so the solenoid is stuck.
turn the key on and hook up the battery and let it start then turn the key off and let it die. the kick of it starting should knock the solenoid back like it should be. if it keeps trying to start you will have to pull the starter and replace the solenoid

1999 buick regal won't start--replaced battery, then tried. starter won't turn over at all

Do you hear a click? if not the solenoid may be bad. If you do hear a click or a strain from the started your starter is bad.

Car not starting

starter motor is jammed. solenoid on the starter is sticking. if its a manual gearbox put the car bin 4th gear, release the handbrake and rock the car back and forth.if you hear a clunk then the solenoid has released. try starting the car again. if its an automatic remove the stater motor and investgate. either way your starter motor needs overhaul or replacing

your starter, solenoid or ignition is no good. but my first choice,i think your solenoid is shorted because when you hook up the battery,it cranks but does not start.that means your ignition switch is still working.
