Below is the "Passkey" reset procedure, if this doesn't correct the problem you have a failed part or a defective key, it helps to have two keys, if one works and one doesn't you have found the problem, that being a defective chip in the ignition key.

PASSKEY LOCKOUT RESET ALL GM CARS 1999 AND UP

    1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the PASSKEY system to recognize your key.

If the car is still in lock out then you must have a GM dealer scan the system to see what the fault is that is triggering Anti-theft lock out.

Why do my pointiac g6 3.5 liter crank only sometimes?

Either the starter motor is on its way out to becoming defective or you are missing a few teeth on the flywheel. It could also just be the starter drive on the starter motor that is defective.

How to reset theft system 2007 pontiac g6 convertible

The security, antitheft, or passlock light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle.

2006 Malibu antitheft reset

There is no reset except to leave the key in the ignition turned on for 10 minutes, if that does not reset it you need the dealer to inspect the problem.

My car won't start, every time it gets cold it does this???? the lights turn on but it doesn't turn over, last year I the fuse box went out because all the electronics in my car where using too...

One reason GM vehicles dont start, especially when the weather changes isdue tofaulty antitheft systems. Next time this happens, look for a light on the dash that says secury or antitheft. Picture might look like a car with a padlock thru the window, If you see any of these lights, that will explain why it doesnt start. This link explains. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
