Question about Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a 94 Grand Cherokee Laredo and the first time it stalled out i was at a stop light and it turned green and i tried to step on the gas and realized my car stalled the radio was still on, the second time i was pulling up to a stop sign and was inching up and it stalled and the radio was still on and the third time i was pulling on to a my street and turning and it shut off with the radio still on, the differences about this time was that the 1st and 2nd time i cranked it, it started back up easily. This third time i cranked it, it took 2 long about 15 second cranks to get it to start up. Also my check engine light has never came on during this time. We have already checked the idle air control valve, and it has a brand new battery, and has been doing this with and without the new battery. What could be happening?

How did you check the IAC? You have a whole bunch of maybes here. A failing fuel pump or crank sensor can do that, as can a loose connection just about anywhere.(including grounds) Your ignition switch can also give you a similar problem. Fuel pump won't turn the check engine light on. Sometimes the cps wont either 'till it gets worse. The radio works off a different circuit so that's likely why it remained on. If immediately after it stalls and you turn the key on you don't hear the fuel pump, that's a good indication that it may be ready to be replaced. But, make sure the relay is good (both pump and asd relay). As for testing other sensors, you will need to get yourself a chilton or haynes manual and a digital multi meter. There are individual tests you can do for each sensor. It won't hurt to unplug and then plug back in each sensor. If a contact is bad, often that will re-establish contact.
Harness "wiggle test" is a good idea too.
Don't worry about the ignition switch 'till you have tested all else. They don't go bad very often.

With a 94 jeep grand cherokee will start, but the minute you let off the gas it dies

Sounds like the classic IAC motor, when these start failing they will not turn on the engine light. These give you a start stall symptom.

My 1994 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo will not start or stay running.turns over but will not fire, but then sometimes it will.when it does start it runs very rough and will stall if I try to restart it...

If it's been sitting a while it's always a good idea to put some sort of gas treatment in it. Ethanol added to gas nowadays is bad about getting water in it if it sets.

2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo . when engines warm, i step on the gas it chokes and stalls, but then it restarts again

When you step on the gas pedal the engine commands are to give more fuel,so obvoiusly you have a fuel pressure problem, from a neede fuel filter or even a new pump or both

94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo: No power to left tail light

Traced the problem to the Lamp Outage Module located in the rear left quarter access panel behind the spare tire. Arcing had occurred on the left taillight line. Fortunately this part is readily available at your local Jeep recovery yard (none available in the U.S. from dealers). Recommend J& W Auto Wreckers in Antelope, CA (web site available). Massive number of Jeeps and fair prices. If you don't want to replace the LOM then you can join the two connectors that go into the LOM (LOM is optional) but you'll always show a lamp failure on your console.
