May want to check and see if the headlight sensor may be defective or covered, this could make the lights stay on, and the headlight would work the same as if it were dark outside.

Yes it sounds like the switch is stuck in the park position. You could pull the harness plug for the switch and check the circuits with a meter, or replace the switch.
in the back of the head lights, the base is removed by grasping it and turning to the left and gently pulling outward,...the bulbs are pushed into the base,,,remove the bulb , hold it up to light to check the filaments....sometimes the back of the hdlite isn't easy to access, but otherwise it is an easy job....thnks for the question....hope info is helpful
the plate and tail lights are on the same fuse you can check that fuse and the dash light fuse with a test light, but i'm pretty sure your head light switch is the problem,
i got a 1998 ford taurus and my emergency light were not working since many days.i shown a mechanic for that problem , and he checked for that , and now the problem is side lights are not working.it was working well before , and now my mechanic says that turn light switch has to be replaced. and its quite expensive. any one have any comments to fix this or any other alternative ?....plz let me know.
