There is something somewhere that is drawing the juice from the battery, make sure there are no lights inside the truck that are staying on, or in the glove box, or vanity mirror lights that are staying on. also , i would check the wires to the starter, and alternator to make sure none of the wires are frayed or have no insulation on them, and could possibly be shorting out. also make sure there are no electrical wires that are near or touching any exhaust areas.

Remove the pos battery terminal and connect a test light to the cable and battery, remove the fuses one at a time till the light goes out, remember the dome light is on when checking interior fuses. either remove the bulb or push the door button in, this will direct you to the circuit that has the problem

New alternator new battery but battery still not keeping charge what else could it be

What do you mean not keeping charged ? Battery goes dead over night ,while driving the vehicle ? Could have a parasitic drain on the battery while vehicle is parked . Do you come out to start the vehicle in the morning an the battery is dead ?

98 crysler concorde wonr hold charge pulled alternator tested good put back in but still drains battery

Has the battery been tested? Have you run a battery draw test with a multimeter set to milli amps? If so what is the reading? Also check and make sure no lights are on in the car, check the visor vanity lights, glove box, console if equipped, trunk all of them, do it at night.

1989 buick park avenue battery wont stay charged

A possibility is an ignition fuse has blown when the radio was removed. Does the battery light light up when the ignition is turned on. The alternator needs that light to energise and charge, (without it you just run the battery flat), failing that charge the battery, connect an amp meter in series, with every thing switched off, should have a reading of about 0.5 amps (Time clock). If above 2amp that is what is draining the battery. Watch meter and pull fuses one at a time, when the reading drops, that is the circuit/equipment that's causing the trouble.

1998 gm pickup truck tail lights came on when no switches were on now fuel pump is not pumping

YOU STILL NEED TO HAVE THE BATTERY FULLY CHARGE . LIGHT USE 5 TO 7 AMP FOR THE ECM TO POWER UP. IT NEED A FULL CHARGE. THE TAIL LIGHT WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY AND WILL NOT WORK. JUMP TRUCK AND REPLACED BRAKE STWITH OR ADJEST IT.WITH A GOOD BATTERY KEY ON YOU WILL HEAR THE PUMP RUN FOR 15 TO 20 SECONDS AND IT SHOULD RUN

I have replaced everything simple and it still wont charge. But 90% of the time that it doesnt charge is at night.

Hello, I have a few ideas for this. Because of the problem being at night, if you have a garage to park in, place a light close to your light sensor for the Autolamp feature. Make sure you do not melt the dash or burn the vehicle paint. Then try to start the vehicle in the morning and see if the Battery drained or not.

A bad wire connected to the headlight circuit could possible drain the Battery without turning on the headlights. The drain would occur when the vehicle was operated at night as well as when the vehicle was off and parked. You could have a bad headlight Relay in the Powerbox. You can also try switching off the Autolamp feature.

You need a charging system test. Autozone, Advance, and Oreillys will give scans and other tests for free. In your case, you need to turn the headlights on while checking the charging system.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

Hi my car wont start, after i get a jump it will run that hold day then the next morning nothing will come on no lights anything

your charging system is working okay or you would have to have it jumped more than once a day.you have a bad battery that needs replacing as running it during the day the charging system keeps the battery charged up enough to work.you could have a drain on the battery from something in the car that is not shutting down that you will have to have checked out.or sitting over night the battery runs down to the point that it needs to be jumped started if its an old battery(over5-6years).

Try unpluging the field connector from the alternator after you shut it off for the night, the internal regulator may be shorted draining the power from the battery.

The battery keeps running down, it's a brand new battery

The battery is only as good as the system which is charging it while you drive. Your alternator may not be charging the battery properly , OR something is draining the battery while the car is parked. Your new batttery might be defective , but I doubt it. Were you having a problem with your old battery ? If yes , then it probably was not the battery in the first place. If you have access to a voltage tester , check what voltage is when the engine is running. It should be around 14.5 , if it is below 13 , you likely have an alternator problem.

Something keeps draining my new battery.......in less than 24hrs....don't see any lights left on or tail lights on......

Are you leaving something plugged into the Cigarette lighter by chance as that will drain it even if nothing's charging.

You may have a faulty ground somewhere, but that will be really hard to trace as you would have to test each wire...
