Depending on Mileage..

Fuel filter..VW has a very long service interval on this part.. but if you have more than 60K on your car.. and it hasn't been changed.. change it.

Throttle body.. should be removed..and cleaned..

Check air filter.. replace if needed.

These are really common things for hesitation.. fuel injector service/cleaning is another. Since you aren't getting any CEL's it may be one or all of these fairly simple things.

Best of luck!

ENGINE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATION

LOSS OF ACCELERATION

It can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its clogged filters causing there.

There are many other possibilities. I suggest you to go through the list of help links mentioned below, these will help you to confirm where the actual fault lies: -------

Jetta V5 125 kw hesitation problems (2002 model)

Hi Dave

Have you checked your sparkplug cables that run from the coils to the sparkplugs. Had a simular problem and it was the cables. Park in a garage, pop the bonnette and check if there is any loss of spark at the spark plugs.

Hope this helps.

Try driving it with the MAF unplugged and see how it runs. As for the Jetta, VW has release a service bulletin on the oil in intake problem. But I can't remember every thing in the bulletin. I'll have to look it up.

Van occasionally stalls. Lurches after leaving a stop sign

I had somewhat the same problem on my 03 chev venture van. It was the tranny slipping or rather not engaging. When you try to pull away from a stopped position the vehicle start to accelerate momentarily then hesitate then **** forward with a loud thunk. Turned out to be a solenoid or sensor in the tranny. The dealership at first refused to do anything saying it was normal and to allow more time after putting it in gear. After I proved to them that it was not normal ( by taking them on a test drive in my vehicle then in one of thiers) they agreed to fix it. Worked great for 20-30000K then came back. Now have 260,000k so it is more nuisance than a problem at least at this point.
Check your fluids and possibly look into using a transmission additive designed to stop slippage

Check the O2 sensor wiring just above the right axle, sometimes it comes loose and rubs on the axle.
