It's usually an indication that your alternator is not putting out enough voltage to charge & run your ignition system. Causes could be loose fan belt or alternator is worn. Stop by any good parts store or shop and have them test your charging system - most will test it FREE

Charging system failure

Most probably the alternator brushes are worn.
My second guess would be either the alternator's voltage regulator or bridge.

Although the computer said "charging system failure", you were able to drive the car, but all the electrical systems (headlights/taillights, power control unit, injectors, ignition etc) were powered by the battery current instead of the alternator current. The alternator wasn't able to recharge the battery and power the devices due to its failure.

After a couple miles you've discharged the battery to a point where its voltage was insufficient to power the instrument cluster (thus the speedo and fuel meter went down to zero). The engine's computer, injection, ignition and, let's call it "airbag controller", are far more critical for the passengers' and vehicle's safety and therefore were still able to work despite the battery voltage being so low. But some time later the battery was discharged to the point it was unable to power these most critical devices and the engine stopped.

the alternator runs on bushes pushed by springs a new regulator that has new bushes and springs should fix it as long as the armature isn't damaged i would ask the auto elec how much for a reconditioned alternator or if you don't trust auto elec try another auto elec, if they doth say same thing, they are right, your loyalty to your mechanic has cost you a small fortune already .auto electricians have more advanced tools for testing , hope this helps

I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra - the front end vibrates when turning. What's causing this?

When was the last time you balanced and rotated tires,it's recommended to do it every 6000 miles,Sam's club does it for 15 or if you bought tires from there then it's free.Make sure lug nuts are tight.

What does the (!) sign that appears in red means? and can i still driving the car after its appear?

There are several ! signs on the dash, and they all signal a failure that makes the driving risky. The ! sign in what appears to be in between parenthesis ( and ) is a warning sign for the brake failure - driving the car in this condition is extremely dangerous.
Tow the car to the nearest repair shop. If you can't tow it then drive it there extremely slowly and with a hand on the hand brake - the main brakes can fail any minute now.

How to change front driver side turn signal bulb in a 98 Lexus es 300.

This may be right.I got this third hand.. works on later models. Above the area of the turn signal there will be a piece of black plastic that extends from the left side of the front of the car to the right. In this case if its the driver side pull up the plastic tab holding down the plastic strip in front of the battery directly above the headlight and lift it up. This will expose a screw that retains the front signal/driving light housing. Remove screw and carefully slide housing forward. Once out remove bulb and replace. This should only take 5 minutes, works on either side

When turning on my Subaru Legacy outback 2003, the

the problem is most likely in the alternator or possably the voltage regulator of the alternator, it is an easy test to run and is done for free at most automotive stores, when the alternator is cold there may be commontator and brush contact issues. the test when it is cold is you can put a voltage testor on the battery and have the scar started cold. the voltage should not drop below 10v f it does have the battery load tested. as soon as the car starts then see if the voltage is around 14.3 or so, if it is below 14 then the alternator or regulator are bad. if it is jumping all over like ya know 12, 15, 7, 14 then the regulator is bad. have them double checked and replaced.
