Question about Toyota Land Cruiser

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser. We lost the keys. The dealer said I have to tow the car there to replace the main ECU and get new keys which would be around $3000. Is any other option available?

1. Not necessary to replace the ECU (Engine Control Unit)!!! Only order new keys which needs to be programmed using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car.
2. Another option is to buy another second hand in good condition ECU & ignition keys together, and install in your car. The condition is to find ECU & ignition keys from another identically vehicle.

What could cause the serpentine belt on my 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser to keep breaking after traveling short distances?

Something in the engine compartment is not working correctly, or is misaligned. The increased friction or misalignment could be causing the belt to fail. Needs to be investigated by a qualified mechanic.

Yes, of course! If their previous excessively expensive repair did NOT fix the vehicle, that is PROOF they were WRONG, and that they OWE you a REFUND for the INCORRECT part, AND it replacement labor! Complain to the Federal Trade Commission if they don't do something about their demonstrated INCOMPETENCE ... so far!

We have lost spare keys to Landcruiser. Apparently there is a computerised chip and we have been quoted $2000 to get replacements. The keys are not remote. Can anybody throw any light on how we can solve...

2000 DAMN Where from the dealer? All it is, is a resistor in the key. That is probably the price to put in a whole new system? They should be able to order u a key with your vin number. I know you can go to dealer and get a key made that will open the door just wont start it.
