All gears work but wont go into park

First make sure you have a block in front and back of one of the wheels. And put on the parking brake. Since you don't have park. Go under the truck. on the driver side of your transmission you will find the link that is attached to your gear shift ...With someone in the cab of the truck have them move the shifter. Have the shifter moved toward the park position. While under the truck you will notice where the link stops. There is a nut that holds the link together. Loosen and remove the nut. Mark the link where it stops. Now remove the link and move it towards the rear of the truck . Repalce the nut and hand tighten. Now try to put the truck in park. Should work. If not try adjusting a bit more...Good luck and be patient...It may take a couple of tries...Hope this helps...Have a good day and GOD BLESS !

I was told there was a sensor that was on the out side of my transmission that control first gear shifting in a f-150 1999 model. Does anyone know what that sensor is called?? Thanks

transmission control switch is the thing that lets your truck shift gears after it is drive. I think that is what your talking about. there is a range sensor also but that is more for park/neutral. Hope that helps.

I have a 1999 e-450 that sometimes rolls when its in park.

Your linkage is out of adjustment or worn bushing. There is a series of links and rods that accomplish the changing of gears,(especially with a column shifter). The links sometimes have plastic or nylon bushings. They become worn or broken and allow for maladjustment--not going into gear or park fully.
If it isn't going into park and the linkage is correctly adjusted with no damage, you should suspect internal transmission damage.

If you don't feel comfortable about this repair, a respected shop is your best bet.
