Question about Ford F-150
The only way to check the fuel system is with a pressure gauge. the rail pressure should be around 39 psi . make sure the fuel filter is ok before testing, if the pressure is low check the fuel regulator if ok check the fuel pump, most in tank pumps have a sock type filter make sure its ok , the fuel pressure should hold for a few minutes after being switched off, if not the pump return valve may be faulty, the fuel flow must be checked also , if you don't have a flow meter do the following, divert the fuel rail return line to a container , start the engine it must flow around a pint in thirty seconds for the pump to be ok.

If you have the same problem with the engine Hot or Cold then it may be the cold start fuel injector in the throttle body / carb. may need to be cleaned or replaced.
may be chock and linkage
