Question about Ford Mustang
Pull out the ecm which is under the dash, above the driver's feet behind that panel above the petals-DISCONNECT the battery before you handle the ECM, so you don't ruin it-undo the bolt that holds it to the bracket, then unscrew the bolt that holds the harness into the ECM. There is a plate on the back of the ECM you remove and insert the chip into so that it mates with the PC terminals inside the unit. Once you get it out, it is pretty self explanatory.
