The knocking noise is the key. Assuming the coolant level is correct, and the thermostat is working correctly, it sounds like you have a blend door actuator concern. If the knocking noise is coming from the center dash area, the blend door needs to be replaced. The radio and center trim will need to be removed, the blend door removed and the blend door needs to be manually moved to verify heat. Good luck.

Hi i have a ford exp 2004 my heat is not working blowing out cold and has a knocking sound when on high put antifreeze in it no help

Look in the engine compartment, Look straight back to the firewall. you should see two hoses going into the firewall, before you do anything, inspect those hoses make sure there are no cracks or leaks. If that passes then start the car and let it warm up. After is has warmed up feel the hoses if one of them is warm and the other is hot then you have a clogged heater core. But if they are both hot or both cold then I suggest to take it into a professional.

2004 Ford explorer engine knocking

take it to an accredited service shop that has experience on your make of engine and have a proper diagnosis done and quote
it is possible that there is a spinning main bearing and the test is a oil pressure test using a mechanical gauge
some times it spins , low oil pressure -knocking other times it stops and the oil pressure goes back up , knocking stops
should I be correct , normally it can be repaired in car by removing the sump and replacing that bearing shell, of the shaft is not damaged
i would steer away from a new engine or suggestions of a blown engine but it could be serious

Check the oil pressure manually with a gauge. Make sure you have oil pressure. Perhaps you need a new oil pump, or new lifters. Get a professional opinion from a non interested party. Save money, get a diagnosis.

I have a 2004 ford explorer. My ac only blows cold air and their is an knocking noise coming from the dash in the area around the ac. Can you please help?

That is the blend door actuator. It is mounted on the top of the evaporator case behind the radio/glove box area. The plastic gears inside of that device wore their teeth off and won't open the heater core side of the case.

With the temp set at 90 degrees its still blows

Noise from rear of car has no relation to no heat. Check the coolant level. I'd guess it's low. If it's full, the thermostat is not working.

2003 Ford Explorer is knocking and blowing cold air when I turn the knob to the heat

The blend door (mode door ) is a very common issue there is even an associated TSB t(technical service bulletin) it has to do with the blend door becoming warped and binding the accuator. In an opened or semi-closed position
