tailgate lock assist will not work

Same Problem

Mar 13, 2009

-   I have the same problem on my 1995 525tds.
The problem occured after I had a rear exhaust box fitted,it was operating perfect up untill then.
i have checked the fuses 32/33/37 under the rear seat, found ok.
I dont seem to have a feed on the red/black wire to the accuator.
Put 12volts direct on to the accuator to see if it would work,no joy.
To make things worst the barrel on the tail gatelock had sized solid.
Freed barrel and checked movement, there is not enough movement (ie 45 degress each way ) on the linkage to realease the lock.
As a last resort I have pinned the operating lever to the barrel housing so I can at last open the tail gate manually with the key.-   Guest
