Question about 2002 Jeep Liberty
that sounds like a purely mechanical problem where the selector cone for forwards siezes and will not "release" the forward gears.
it should not affect the computer itself, but the added drag from a faulty gearbox, may affect power and fuel economy which the computer may register.
if the gearbox is fixed, the computer readings should return to normal, providing the computer does not have a fault of its own unrelated to the gearbox issue
