Question about Chevrolet TrailBlazer

1 Answer

The Engine Sensor light came on just now and stays on. I am not sure why, but it appears to be something with the emissions as I looked it up in the driver manual. I am not sure what I need to do or what it will cost to be fixed.

Engine light does not say a thing, it is a 2005 Trailblazer. It is just on. I took it to Autozone and it would not register on the OBDII sensor. It appears to be electrical. Not sure what that will cost me now.

Light engine stay on when water temperature needle indicator is in the middle, engine works OK, and car too.

The check engine light comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on, too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area.

A flashing check engine light is an indication of a severe misfire or problem that is likely to harm your engine. Immediate diagnosis and service is needed.

Some specific causes for the light to be on are:

Gas cap left off, not tightened, not installed correctly, or needs to be replaced

02 sensor

Engine misfire - error might clear itself after 3 complete warm-up cycles; not restarts, but warm-ups

At start up for a bulb check - Should not stay on

Problem in the emission system, including clogged exhaust or the catalytic converter not functioning properly

Dirty/clogged air filter

Dirty MAF sensor

There are pages and pages of items that can cause a check engine light to come on. Having it checked with a scan tool will narrow down the problem area.

Tonight, my check engine light came on in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It seems to be running fine. But how long can I drive on this until I need to take it in? Is it safe to "toodle" around town this...

the check engine light is different to a service light....but if you dont appear to have any problems, like bad driving or lack of power, i would think it was inssgnificant and not to worry about.......the engine light comes on when the computer registers a problem......this could be anything from an emission control issue, to a sensor intermittently failing, or a sensor failed.....just keep an eye on it, and at your earliest convenience take it to a local mechanic to have it diagnosed

Have a 1996 Isuzu Trooper LS, check engine light came on so I checked it with a scanner and it said generic code PO 133, which is a slow response, or slow switching so I put an oxygen sensor on, check...

I had the same thing. It is something to do with emissions apparently. I was told to check the fuel cap ! I put some silicone on the seal, cleaned it up, put it back on with the correct number of clicks and after about 15 minutes of driving, the Check Engine light stayed off.

Replaced bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor with an OE

Those lights indicate an issue with ABS or traction control systems. In order to properly diagnose the problem the vehicle's codes will need to be read with a scanner.

Generally speaking there is no danger in driving the vehicle but be aware you may not have functioning traction control and/or ABS while those lights are present.
