Question about 2001 Ford Ranger Regular Cab

1 Answer

Forgot to put anti-freeze in my 2001 Ranger 3.0 after replacing the heads and when I went to get into my truck one morning after a hard freeze I see water coming down the driveway from my truck. It looks like around the water is coming from the flywheel and starter.

I read many different forums last night and many say that there are six freeze plugs and some in the flywheel area. If you could just tell me how many and their exact locations that would clear this up for me.

    Thanks

There is no water ports around there, I would say take and have pressure tested and see if block does not have a crack. Best of luck.

Three on each side , To my knowlage i don't recall any in or around the flywheel. Besides if it is a freze plug you have to remove engine. Did you take to have presure tested? Let me know if i can help further, good luck.

Cooling system

Your mechanic needs to figure out where the coolant is going. If it is not showing up under the car or on the floor mats in the car, then the problem may be either a leaking head gasket or in your radiator. If it is the radiator, coolant may be getting into your engine oil and this is very serious.

2001 intrepid 2.7l engine, anti freeze is getting into oil.

This most likely means the head gasket has failed and must be replaced. If so, it's bad news because that is an expensive job........not the parts, but the labor. It involves removing the head, putting on a new head gasket, and then cleaning that mess out of the crank case if you have been driving it that way very long.

Leak from 2001 Ford ranger Water Intake Manifold - There is an aluminum part coming out of the manifold on top of the engine that is leaking. It is not on the rubber hose but on the metal part that...

The piece you are describing sounds like the thermostat housing. These housings are normally bolted to the manifold, so you can simply unbolt it. If it is cracked, you will need to replace it. If it is not, you can replace the gasket underneath it and reinstall it.

Check the anti freeze level. It is to low the coolant sensor (not the temp. gauge sensor they are to different sensor) can make the computer to thing that the motor is to hot ( after it sits a short time the steam it the motor thinks it hot than what it is) making the fuel to lean. If it set longer but not to cold the sensor is not in the anti-freeze to will think it is colder and put to much fuel in.

Water on Drivers side Saturn SC2

Is it antifreeeze from heater core or heater core hose leak?  Is the leak pure water, or maybe something else?
Put it in the garage again overnight with an old white towel in the drivers foot well, best if you can find a way to stretch it from drivers seat forwar to firewall and keep it off of floor mat.  Check it before you go to bed,  then in the morning if no leak found yet.  see if the color/location of the spot helps you identify the source.  I think the heater core is under the dash center.  Anti freeze is green/yellow or orange.
good luck
