Question about Ford Explorer Sport

1 Answer

I have a 2003 ford explorer sport with less the 100 thousand miles on it and it ran fine for a while, but now i have to keep pressing the fuel cut off switch located on the passenger side floorboard even while i start it. It then will run for only about 5 to 10 seconds before it dies again unless i keep pressing the fuel cut off switch. It also shows on the dashboard that my battery is low but its only about half way. Could this mainly be a problem with the fuel cut off switch or is this more related to my battery??

Old fuel pumps don't like running out of gas. Hit the bottom of the tank near the center a few times. If it starts replace the fuel pump.

Car cuts out when warmed up and when you try to accelrate

fuel pump is not delivery right amount of pressure. When pump is cold it delivery correct pressure after it gets hot it doesn't deliver the correct pressure. Check fuel pressure when cold in between 30 and 40 psi and when u run it for a while (100 miles ) measure if the pressure is below 30 psi your fuel pump is going bad, hope this helps
