Question about Lincoln MKZ

1 Answer

Purchased a 2011 Lincoln Hybrid in February. It took almost a month to get the car to even get past 25 mpg. I have driven it for 1700 miles now and it won't go past 32.6 mpg. I would think that if the car advertised 36 Highway and 41 around town, that I would get something close to at least 36. I watch the gaugues and I'm seeing the gauge hit 60 mpg+ quite a bit. I asked the dealer and no one could answer me other than (It's the way you drive. and it's not 36/41, it's UP TO 36/41.) It's a hybrid and it doesn't get better mileage than 32.6. I paid a lot to have the luxury and now finding myself driving my Prius as it gives me what it promised.

You should have applied common sense & done more
research. Your lucky if you get 25 to 30 mpg anytime

It is all about advertising, to get your money, that's all,
no more. Never has been, with motor vehicles.

Every one buying any vehicle, knows you never get close
to the MPG on the window sticker. That is a corporate
AVG ,not what your car would get. Education !!!!

If that car was mine,I'd take it to Ford and pay their diagnostic fee.
Before you do that, unhook the battery cable for a half hour and then reconnect and let it idle for a few minutes. If it acts okay, drive it TOWARD the Ford dealer and check it out.
Your car is at the age that it needs Coil-over-plugs and spark plugs, along with a fuel filter. The coils-over plugs can cause BAD things to happen to the PCM(by electrical interference) which controls a LOT of functions. don-ohio (:^)

Why does my new hyundai sonata hybrid getting 27 mpg.

it does depend on the type of driving you do, and break-in is a factor for a new car-mileage will be lower until the car is fully broken in (3-5000 miles), and if you do more highway driving than stop-and-go it will affect your gas mileage.

Hybrid gets lower mpg when city driving and keeping speed at 45 moh or less.

I don't have a solution, only the same problem. I bought the MKZ Hybrid in February and have driven almost 1700 miles. I am good at watching the gauges and ensuring good fuel economy. But I have yet to get any thing above 32.6 mpg. Now it ranks at up to 36 on the highway and up to 41 around town. OK, I get the "UP to" but I bought a Prius and right off the bat, I was getting what the rankings were. It took me forever to get it past 24 mpg. Then just this past weekend the check engine light came on and stayed on. I have an appt to drop it off tomorrow.

Anyone else have this car and are you getting any better gas mileage???

The display reads 14 mpg how can is be in proved?

You cannot rely on these mileage displays. To know for sure fill the fuel tank up and write down the mileage on the vehicle at that time. Drive the car until you have 1/4 fuel in the tank. Fill the tank and note the amount of fuel it took to fill it up. Divide the gallons necessary to fill it up into the miles driven since the last fill up. You now know the mpg the car got. Example: You drove 300 miles and the car used 16 gallons of fuel. 300 divided by 16 equals 18.75 mpg.

2009 Saturn Vue Hybrid 1400 getting 18 mpg instead of avg of 28

Do you normally accelerate quickly from stopped? You can increase your cars mileage by cutting down on rapid starts and stops. A comparable Honda Accord Hybrid rated at a higher 25city 37 hwy MPG rating achieves less than 22mpg when driven HARD
