I need a detailed wiring diagram for the light switch on my 1966 Ford F100 truck

I already have the diagram submitted by the first expert and it really doesn't help me much. What I need is a diagram only showing the light switch and telling me what wire should be connected to each individual prong.

  • ruben_trujil Apr 05, 2011

I just want a diagram of the light switch telling me what wire is connected to each prong. I don't want a complete electrical diagram like I have been receiving as it does not show all cable connections clearly.

  • ruben_trujil Apr 05, 2011

    Hey Mr. Guru,

Yes, I am rewiring my truck and the light switch schematic that came along with the wiring harness does not match the one I have on the truck so I am kind of confused. Of course the color codes on the new harness does not match what is already installed on the truck but I understand everything except the light switch that controls the lights and parking lamps.

  • ruben_trujil Apr 06, 2011

It looks like it is OEM as it looks the same as one I saw in a book for the 1966 F100..

  • ruben_trujil Apr 06, 2011

    I appreciate you help

  • ruben_trujil Apr 06, 2011

I'm not sure if you got my last response but its exactly the same as one I saw in an electrical schematic book for a 1966 F100. The book did not provide in detail what I needed.

    Thank you for your help.

    Ruben

Your new switch didn't come with its own diagram. Of you had the switches diagram from the manufacturer and the writing diagram for the truck, you should be able to determine where the writes go regardless of color.have you tried to get the switch diagram from the manufacturer.

Your truck is negative ground. While battery cables were originally color coded, one for positive, one for negative, prolly 80% of the owners do not know that, and put any colored cables on, usually two blue or red ones.

well you did ask for a detailed one..

what u want is a diagram showing which color wires go where just for switch and headlights..

    ok ..

    here it is
http://postimage.org/image/2vs6jgs78/ just the head lighs and the switch and what color goes where. OS the previous diagrams i showed you, has a number on each wire, if you look in the box the number corresponds to a color and each part is labled. This is a cutout of that. The last wire attached to the headlight is black in clolor so i left the original black like, the other's are striped like green with black stripe etc. This is the easiest diagram I could draw If you need more help let me know......http://postimage.org/image/2vs6jgs78/......

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Apr 05, 2011

http://postimage.org/image/zvjzxg10/ does that one help.. if not tell me the color wires your looking at in the new harness and the ones in the old harness.

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Apr 06, 2011

    does that image help ?

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Apr 06, 2011

not quite sure, what image your refering to can you give me a link maybe i can help clear it up,, basically what you need to know is from what pin on the switch to the destination of the wires right ?? like from pin 1 to head lamp etc ?? is that so ??

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Apr 06, 2011

if i tell you which pin connects to which component, will that help ? If you could trace the wires back to the specific component I can do the trace via the diagram for you.

To,be more specific it's 1966 ford F100 pickup gas gauge does not work I want to know how to wire it properly

you going to have a service manual with wiring diagrams and layout
also assemble and reassemble procedures for the gas guide for the trk.
now if you get the part at the local auto parts store some have the disassemble and reassemble procedures available when you buy the new part. YOU MITE HAVE TO CALL AROUND TO SEE IF ANY OF THE PART STORE HAS THIS OPTION IN THE PROGRAM OR STORE OPTIONS.

I need to remove the entire ignition assembly from my 1966 Ford F100. The ignition switch is in the dash board and I do not how to remove the back portion under the dash So I can re-wire it

the wires/plug should just pull off, there may be a latch on the plug to keep it form just 'falling" off. . If you insert the key, then take a paper clip and insert it into the hole, turn the key/cylinder will come out, then you can unscrew the ring and take out the switch.

1971 ford f100 pickup neutral safety switch wiring color code

Ford Neutral Safety Switch; Ford Reverse Light Switch; Backup Light Switch.

The Neutral Safety Switch wires in my 1971 Ford F100 are orange with a blue stripe.
The Reverse, or Backup Light Switch wires are black with a red stripe.

There are two sets of two wires across this combined neutral safety and backup light switch, for a total of 4 wires. Photos are at the end of this post.

The switch for the 1971 Ford F100 pickup truck is the same as in many other years and models. For details, including parts numbers, see the following quote from an expert at Ford Truck Enthusiasts:
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/287185-back-up-light-and-neutral-safety-switch-2.html#post5601846

The neutral switch also controls the backup lights, and is the same 1967/77.

C7TZ-7A247-A .. Neutral/Backup Switch (Motorcraft SW-600)

There is no separate backup light switch..except on 1967/68 F350's.

Neutral switch location 1967/77:

The plastic half moon shaped neutral safety switch mounts on the outside lower portion of the steering column (NOT on the transmission!).

It's activated by an inverted Y shaped lever that snaps on the shift tube

D0TZ-7B097-B .. Lever, Neutral Switch Actuator = From FTE sponsor DIRECT FORD PARTS: Ford suggested retail price: $18.72 / FTE member net: $13.23.

The switch is also still available from Ford, but the website is down so I can't post the list & net prices. .

1978 is the FIRST year the F100/350's have the neutral switch mounted on the transmission. __________________

The neutral switch is installed on the steering column near the firewall, with 5/8" bolts into the steering column (visible hole) and down column from a rectangular opening in the column housing. The actuating lever for the switch is attached to the gear shift shaft inside the housing; the lever is visibly protruding from the opening in this image.

Have you checked the starter solenoid? Replace this and see if you're getting fire then. They are usually suspect and the first link in the chain between your battery and the distributor.
