The only hard part will be removing the exhaust crossover pipe. This piece must be removed in order to get to the thermostat housing. Other than that all you have to remove is the air cleaner box and pull the hose off of the housing. Getting to the bolts is a little tricky, but a hand do-it-yourselfer can usually find a way to get to them. I'd recommend finding a couple of long extensions once you get to that point

The exhaust crossover pipe does NOT have to be removed. Granted, having the crossover out of the way makes the thermostat replacement easier, taking the steps to remove it adds a lot of unnessecary time. it just gets a little tricky getting the rear thermostat housing bolt

How to change a bad thermostat on a 2003 3.4L pontiac montana

put in a radiator flush ,run it for 20 miles it can be a blocked core in both the radiator and the heater.that should clean it. then refill with a 50/50 mix anti freeze then bleed it of air. put your heater on full .run the engine on tick over.then push in the radiator hose to push the air out of the expansion bottle cap .it is off . then refit your cap.

Get the radiator and heater core, hoses and thermostat replaced. Also replace the mixing valve if needed. A radiator shop could give you an estimate and diagnose the problem better than I can online. I hope sincerly that this helps.

I cant close the glove compartment. it seems as though it will not latch, because the latch is damaged. can i replace it?

Yes, it shouldn't be too hard either. However, have you tried to unlatch it? I had that happen to me. I shut an envelope in it and the latch locked. Try pulling the handle and take a screwdriver and try to move the latch back out.

I hope this helps.

How do you know the thermostat is ok? If in doubt replace it. Water pumps are a even bigger what if. Did he do a radiator flush? Cooling system flush of the engine? Cooling fans come on at what temp and go off when? Replace the engine temperature sensor? 6 years old is bound to have sensors and such go bad.
